Agreed. I've been bicycling to and from work for years. Currently, doing 20 miles per day. As far as getting places other than the start line, I'll be doing the Seattle to Portland bicycle thingy on the 16th and 17th of this month. Any Portland area Fegs are welcome to buy dinner for a long haired, sweaty Indian on that Sunday night : ) Oh yeah, I went to Rush last night. Sorry JD...) s'alright - you have to read the reply twice. It wasn't the rarity I was commenting on, it was the idea of "best 2cd band comp"... which for some reason I read as "2cd live band comp" anyway. Their old stuff is probably better, right? (The Big Takeover, while one of my favorite music magazines, continually trumpets the triumphs of band comebacks, including this one, which always seems a bit dubious to me.) Question 2 (hopefully Hotmail will let me make a paragraph break, if not - - deal with it): The Mekons - I've heard legends of their greatness but have yet to sample any of their music for myself (though I heard a bit of Jon Langford's recent record with the Sadies - funny to hear a Welsh guy singing alt-country...). What would be a good Mekons record to start with? OK, that's all. The old recordings have such a DIY sound that there really isn't a lot of depth - - but the songs still kick ass. I don't go to too many shows anymore, but I gotta think that hearing all of it in a live venue would be pretty freakin awesome. > > > Question 2 (hopefully Hotmail will let me make a paragraph break, if > not > - deal with it): The Mekons - I've heard legends of their greatness but > have yet to sample any of their music for myself I'm in same boat as you on this one. > > OK, that's all. Well it's not all new stuff anyway. Some re-recorded. Do what you want. I think the new one is great. > Question 2 (hopefully Hotmail will let me make a paragraph break, if not > - deal with it): The Mekons - I've heard legends of their greatness but > have yet to sample any of their music for myself (though I heard a bit of > Jon Langford's recent record with the Sadies - funny to hear a Welsh guy > singing alt-country...).
