I have a copy on Rhino/Collector Choice Music (CCM-133-2) which has the album along with Every Knows You're Not In Love and You Never Had It Better as bonuses. It must be said that most of the better tracks are available on Lost Dreams and sound better for the remastering on that. But Underground is necessary for Antique Doll, that for some reason is not on LD. If you're interested in a copy, drop me a line. Brian np Underground - seeing as I went off to the cd rack to check its existance. _________________________________________________________________ Sign-up for a FREE BT Broadband connection today! http://www.msn.co.uk/specials/btbroadband ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 May 2004 07:51:39 -0700 From: "David Stovall" Subject: RE: vinyl-to-CD >Rex >Since we're talking digitized vinyl/cassettes here... >anyone got a copy of Pylon's CHOMP on disc? I don't have it on disc, but I *think* I have a damn nice vinyl copy, and as soon as I either fix my present turntable or break down and buy the used sorta-high-end one a friend has been trying to sell me, I can add it to the queue. If you have any cassette-only stuff, I can do those transfers right away - I've got a nice Tascam 3-head cassette deck and a Tascam standalone CD burner with a damn nice A/D> that are hungry for work. >Eb >Fred Frith/Technology of Tears I have this on CD - apparently you're not only listing "things that have never been released on CD," but just in case you wondered,... >Ken Nordine's Word Jazz series Yeah! I love _Those Deep Buds_, and just nabbed a used copy of _Hum of Life_ cheap a couple weeks ago. For any truly out-of-print things, I could easily be cajoled into running off copies - just get in touch. I'm temporarily sans scanner, though, so you won't get liner notes beyond a tracklisting and personnel/intruments. My own vinyl-to-CD wish list would include: Any *complete* early _ReR Quarterly_ LPs - not just the excerpts released on CD. The mind-numbingly rare Captain Beefheart/Ry Cooder promo-only interview LP (though there was apparently a more commplete version of that recording available online for a while, I was never able to find/download it) A few things in my current transfer-queue, awaiting the new/repaired turtable: various promo-only intervew LPs: Robyn, XTC, Elvis Costello (multiple), the Church (in that case, a promo-12" b-side), the David Thomas solo albums that either didn't make the Monster box set, or only in altered form, some early Monty Python LPs that didn't make the box set (and some other Python-related stuff), a dozen Caroliner LPs, jeez, I've got a lot of work to do. da9ve ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 May 2004 11:20:40 -0700 From: Eb Subject: Re: The Vinyl Countdown >> The Electric Prunes/Underground > > Is this not in print?? > I have a copy on Rhino/Collector Choice Music (CCM-133-2) which has > the album along with Every Knows You're Not In Love and You Never Had > It Better as bonuses. Isn't Collector Choice kinda notorious for poor-sounding CDs, which in some cases are even mastered from old vinyl? I've always had the impression that this is sort of a shady, disreputable label. Oh, and Dave...yeah, I knew Frith's Technology of Tears came out on CD. But unpopular SST stuff gets harder and harder to find, and I really want to have this one on vinyl rather than CD anyway. I spent last night being ostracized for wearing short pants. Not one of my better stabs at entertainment. I got Hum immediately after seeing DFH on the corresponding tour in... hmmm... '93? I'd been reluctantly dragged to a Bettie Serveert concert, and the Hermans were the opener. I'd never heard of them. They absolutely crushed my skull-- so good were they that a bunch of us drove up to Bellingham the next night to see their next show. At the time, I had to have a copy of Hum Of Life immediately, and the shop only had the vinyl, so that's what I've had ever since. I don't suspect Project A-Bomb still exists... the CD version doesn't seem to be orderable anymore. I liked Those Deep Buds a lot but not quite as much. You'd think I would've dug on the closely-related Ex stuff, but what I've heard hasn't done much for me. > > A few things in my current transfer-queue, awaiting the new/repaired > turtable: > > various promo-only intervew LPs: Robyn, XTC, Elvis Costello (multiple), > the Church (in that case, a promo-12" b-side), the David Thomas > solo albums that either didn't make the Monster box set, or only > in altered form, Yep, I have the vinyl of More Places Forever and at some point I wanna transfer it with my stand-alone Philips CD recorder, on account of the very perverse mix DT gave it for the Monster box set. Love that Lindsay Cooper!! Bugs me a little, but doesn't stop me from playing it about 800 times in the last 2 months. But I hear they fixed their reissue of the 1st Verlaine Lp, and I believe that's from actual tapes. I think they're one of those companies where you have to read up on each specific release to be sure. Speaking of Incredible String Band, I have an undated Robyn @ Maxwell's NJ solo boot, from the song selection I'd say 1989 or so. It closes with a haunting cover of ISB's "Yellow Snake", which RH introduces by saying that he and Joe Boyd are organizing an ISB tribute disc, and this is the one Robyn's recorded for it. Did that record ever happen? Also, Robyn played ISB's "Chinese White" at the Bottom Line Halloween show. I'm wondering how many ISB songs he's known to have covered. Anybody? Listening to them, I keep coming back to Robyn's comment from an old interview, where he said that "they sounded as if they knew something".
