This is actually rather amusing to me - since, on some levels it's dead-on, while from another point of view it's nearly absurd. If there had been a choice, I wouldn't like the recording, the guitar tone, or the singing either...but at the time, I owned one pawnshop nylon-string acoustic guitar, one breaking-and-entry-level mic, and one low-midlevel consumer cassette deck (supplemented by a second, lower-quality model of same). The purpose of recording the songs at all was to hear what they might sound like, in the most rudimentary arrangement. That they sat in a room for twenty years is the best indication of the degree to which I thought they were anything close to a best foot forward. In other words, they're more like notes for a song than a song itself. The amusement lies in my even thinking of these as any sort of finished, releasable product (other than in a personal, vanity sense like this thing: but then, I like rank displays of amateurism generally!). But there they are, suffering terribly in context with some rather excellent work like "Touch You Natalie Jane" - oh well! > 8) Touch You Natalie Jane doesn't belong on this CD. I'm sorry. Man, you're frightening me with the AI refs! But hey - I'm waiting to hear what a stranger to our electronic shores has to say about this track, as I included it on a mix CD I sent out a while ago. I think it's pretty clear that this and the Rainland track are *right there* - other tracks display varying degrees of potential and quality, but these two are the ones that stand out. I have several of these fan-based projects floating around - and I don't think any track on any of them comes close to either of these (excepting when the "fans" are already established acts, that is). - ------------------------------- ...Jeff J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com/ :: Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb :: --Batman ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Apr 2004 21:39:48 -0500 From: "Fortissimo" Subject: Re: Whoa On Sun, 18 Apr 2004 13:40:11 -0400, "Jon Lewis" said: > For those who really want to kill the mystery, David Hornbuckle has > posted a list of every command the chicken will obey.
