To the end of not wishing to perpetuate the dreaded Some Parts Are Meat, I've set up a new LiveJournal site on which I will make all musical announcements. Please check it out at if you are so inclined. There are bits of compelling news to be had already! My intent is to update it with passing musical thoughts as well as Big News. Stop on by! - -- dolph ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Apr 2004 22:16:18 -0600 From: steve Subject: It's slow, so why not go to Yokohama In the future, that is - - - Steve __________ When the president speaks, unscripted, from his own moral center, what shows itself is a bottomless void. - James Carroll, on George W. Atkinson, who turned 58 on March 18, had been suffering for some years. He had two liver transplants and failed kidneys due to dialysis. In January, his friends and colleges gathered to pay tribute to him at a dinner in Hollywood. It was the first time in 30 years the original Zombies were together. The dinner was hosted by Shadoe Stevens and featured performances by the Zombies, Bruce Hornsby, Richard Page of Mr. Mister, Michael Penn, Patty Smyth, Mickey Thomas of Starship, and Brian Wilson. A frail Atkinson rejoined his old band on stage in the evening. After the break-up of The Zombies, in 1967, Atkinson became a record exec. He signed Abba to Columbia and is credited with discovering Bruce Hornsby. The Zombies had a short but successful career, forming in the UK in 1962. Their three biggest hits were 'She's Not There' (also later a hit for Santana), 'Tell Her No', and 'Time of the Season'. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Apr 2004 05:42:18 -0700 From: "Cadtharsis" Subject: bike tour http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/chapter1.html gobsmacked, - - Bill ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 04 Apr 2004 00:38:48 +0200 From: Sebastian Hagedorn Subject: Re: bike tour - -- Cadtharsis is rumored to have mumbled on Samstag, 3. From Tim Minear, regarding "Wonderfalls": "Well, not sure what to tell ya'll -- but we're cancelled. Effective at once. The cow creamer will be silent this Thursday and forever forward. Once we recover from the not-shock, Todd, Bryan and I will see if there's some venue in which to air the remaining episodes. As I have said from the start, the thirteen taken as a whole tell a story and go to a place, so a run of this "limited" series would not be unsatisfying elsewhere. It's a question as to whether the studio will want to invest in a DVD release of a failed series. Maybe the episodes will sit in a warehouse someplace with that sled and the arc of the covenant. Thanks for all the support and enthusiasm.
