I don't need any for my originla 5GB iPod. There's one difference, though: I use my iPod with two Macs and I only need two FireWire cables to do so. With the new iPods, you might need two docks, unless you carry your dock with you ... Cheers Matt Blatzman & Friends Five Was The Time This is the first one that Im not so keen on. Its very slick, and theres nothing wrong with the songwriting, its just that I cant seem to engage with it. Chrissys not keen either. I cant identify quite why, though theres a nice, bubbly bassline, theres nothing wrong with the lyrics: its just I dont get it. Ah well, one cant like everything, I spose. Greg Shell Roger the Robot It really does sound like the soundtrack to a robot being rogered its sensual in a computery, mechanical way. Also the Kraftwerk comparison bears out most favourably. Mike Godwin Carrier Pigeon This starts off with a low-fi reggae beat before settling into a bluesier, rockier groove. Then the vocals come in and thats the point at which Im sold on this song gentle and pitched very high, theres something of Skip Spence here, though the vocals manage to keep their Englishness. I must go back and listen to the lyrics properly the voice makes it quite hard to make them out. All I can hear as a casual listener is something like I keep a carrier pigeon in the front of my car. Its got that percussive popping and hissing that you get from ancient drum machines. This is Chrissys favourite so far. Brian Nupp Gliding Though this is somewhat a departure from the directness of Jennifer, I can still hear that its the same man in charge. All ad-libbed, apparently, something that would usually put me off, but the riff at the start is a good one, and the story behind it all is a weird one, so well worth a listen, in my opinion Blind Matthew Brady Badger Skull Tableau Blimey! This is a bit of a departure: no guitars, no vocals, no tune, almost no music, not even any REM influence, good or bad. Entirely ambient isnt it strange that ambient music always sounds better when played very loudly. This is the sound that buildings make when theres no-one around to hear them Rectifier The Perfume Makers I think Ive got this songs number when I first hear the intro fuzzy guitars with a steady, plodding bassline. Early Factory I think to myself. Then it all stops and the song begins and Im surprised lovely harmonies and a pretty guitar line. Love the fuzzy tremolo guitar. Rex Broome & his Living Room Demons Bagfoot Run Old fashioned country this doesnt sound much like a living room. Funny lyrics and excellent banjo here I have to say Ive never been all that struck by bluegrass and country, though I do like to hear a banjo every now and again, and this song is so warm and cheery that I cant help but like it, despite my prejudices! I Know The Felt of Judas James Dignan Now were at the lower end of Mr Ds range with the song with the inspired lyrics I cant hear the join, where the babelfish translation ends and the real James Dignan begins! Food for Friends Learned my lesson well I cant quite put my finger on what this reminds me of its got that warm, bedroomy indie feel to it. I quite like the affected vocals please tell me why-eeee. Let down only by the drum machine could have done with something a little beefier like the guitars, though.
