We, the Co-Emperors of the East and the West, Kaiserin Adelheid II "Heidi" Klum, and Czar Nicholas III, communicate with Our beloved subjects World-wide through the Internet. Kaiserin Heidi posts regular Court Communiques at Her Imperial Majesty's official Web site http://www.heidiklum.com and We, Nicholas III, post Imperial Ukases (Proclamations) in the Newsgroups, according to the inspiration of the Entities. Over the next few weeks We expect many news, inasmuch as Our Celestial Consort is in the eighth month of pregnancy, carrying Our first daughter together, Elenaki Kaffes Klum, under Her heart, al-Hamdu li-l-Lah! (Praise Allah!) Archangel Heidi is on maternity leave and staying in New York City, the capital of Our World-wide Empire, avoiding travel as much as possible. She uses this quiet time to complete Her autobiography, tentatively titled "Heidi Klum's Body of Knowledge", expected to be published later this year. Our daughter, Leni, is expected to be born in New York City around the middle of May, insha' Allah, God willing. This mirrors the birth of Our first daughter, the Czarevicha Caterina, who was born to Our Imperial Consort, Czarina Dina, on May 14, 1987, in New York City, as well. Czarevicha Caterina Kaffes is the Imperial Crown Princess of the Eastern half of Our Empire and Her Imperial Highness Leni Kaffes Klum will be the Imperial Crown Princess of the Western half, with the title Erzherzogin Helene, i.e., Archduchess Helene. Our Lady Heidi Klum is attended during these final weeks of Her pregnancy by Her mother Erna, whereas Her father Guenther is back home in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, tending to business there. Herr Klum is expected to be in New York, as well, for the delivery. Meanwhile, Our Imperial Parish Church here in Houston, St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church, will hold her annual festival over the weekend of May 13 to May 16, 2004, the 17th birthday weekend for Czarevicha Caterina. It remains to be seen whether Imperial Crown Princess Leni will be born around that same time. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Mar 2004 18:06:43 -0800 From: "Natalie Jane" Subject: Cline, Tweedy, O'Rourke >'Kay... besides Nels, dare I ask who else is in Wilco now? The other new Wilco member is Pat Sansone, who is also in the Autumn Defense. On his website (www.nelscline.com), Nels Cline has posted a long and rather defensive account of how he joined Wilco... apparently he's having trouble paying his rent. I don't have any of his solo records, so I decided to help him out by special-ordering "Destroy All Nels Cline" today... more on that when it arrives on Friday. (Incidentally, I have really, really been enjoying the Geraldine Fibbers lately... I was foolish for overlooking Butch when it was released...) As for the new Wilco record, rather portentiously titled "A Ghost is Born," my burned copy lacks the final track, but I can still say that, although it lacks the sonic experimentation of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or the emotional wallop of Summerteeth, it's still a darn good record. Jim O'Rourke does his usual excellent job with production and arrangements, and Jeff Tweedy's lyrics keep getting better and better. I would give it 8 tinfoil Hermeses out of 10. I've gone slightly deaf in my left ear - one of those things where you have to go to the doctor and get the crud removed with a water-pick - but personally, I think it's the RIAA's new plan to punish people for downloading records before they're released... n. _________________________________________________________________ Get rid of annoying pop-up ads with the new MSN Toolbar FREE! http://toolbar.msn.com/go/onm00200414ave/direct/01/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Apr 2004 11:15:00 -0800 From: "Natalie Jane" Subject: gnatmaniax: I finally fucking saw Stereolab! Some of you might recall the terrible tragedy in which I missed Stereolab and Jim O'Rourke because Laetitia Sadier was sick They played in Portland a couple of years later, but it was the same night as a Ray Davies show Stereolab are great and all, but Ray Davies is RAY DAVIES I heard later I had missed a great show, but at least I got to see "Waterloo Sunset" performed live. So now I finally, finally got to see Stereolab, for reals. They were playing at the Crystal Ballroom, which, as I have frequently complained before, is not my favorite venue it's very pretty, but the visibility sucks it's a long narrow space, and there's always some huge meathead standing in front of me and blocking my view of Ben Gibbard (or someone equally worth looking at). So with that in mind, Viv and I went to sit with the old folks in the balcony, where our view was only blocked by a chandelier. The opening band was called Manitoba, and they had two drummers and a singer and a lot of sequencers and such. They were like a much louder, more rockin' version of Stereolab, accompanied by background films of dancing teddy bears. I dug them, especially when a girl wearing a horse's head got up on stage and started doing crazy dances. It seems that the Flaming Lips' animal costume shtick is spreading. I highly approve of this. So then Stereolab meandered onto the stage a couple of keyboardists, a guitarist, a drummer, a bassist who sometimes doubled as a second drummer, and a guy who played keyboards, guitar, French horn, and trumpet plus the lovely Ice Princess herself, Laetitia Sadier, looking as stylish as always, who played various percussion instruments and, of all things, trombone! Viv and I have a great regard for female trombonists. Laetitia cooed in her pleasantly detached French way and did little groovy dances when she wasn't singing or playing an instrument. Perhaps because she's not a native English speaker, there was very little stage banter mostly she just announced the names of songs, and at the end of the show, she thanked the audience graciously. The groop seemed a little subdued and tentative at first I reckon they still miss their sadly deceased keyboardist/singer Mary Hansen but soon got into a serious groove and never let up. I didn't recognize 99% of the songs, with the exception of "Cybele's Reverie" (off their album "Emperor Tomato Ketchup") and something from their O'Rourke-produced opus, "Sound-Dust," but it didn't matter everything sounded great. Abstract films played in the background, which unlike with a lot of bands that use background films synched up perfectly with the music and actually added a lot to the show, since the band themselves didn't do very much. My favorite film appeared to be an old Rolls-Royce ad, apparently animated by the same people who did "Gumby" it showed lots of stop-motion marching machine parts with a Rolls-Royce insignia leading the way. At this point, me and Viv went downstairs and I found a spot standing atop one of the benches that line the walls of the venue, allowing me to have the best view I've ever had at the Crystal. As the band went into a lengthy jam and sine waves played in the background, I found myself wishing I was on acid. Everybody danced with varying degrees of abandon. Despite a vigorous response from the crowd, the band didn't come back out for a second encore (poo!), and so Viv and I, naturally enough, went home. And that's all oh, except that I bought a t-shirt for a mere $10. Good deal. n. _________________________________________________________________ Check out MSN PC Safety & Security to help ensure your PC is protected and safe. http://specials.msn.com/msn/security.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Apr 2004 11:28:14 -0800 From: "Jason R.
