I've seen posters. I don't recall his working under the Men At Work name for some time, though some of his albums involved MaW members. Given the very harsh criticism of their live shows by the press during their hayday, I wouldn't generally put them on my Bands Reunited list. With Moreland gone, Wall of Voodoo is certainly out of the question. Plus Stan Ridgeway left the band on pretty hard terms. He tours occasionally, but as much as I love his recent albums, his current shows are not really all that great. Still, nice to see a legend when you can. I was lucky enough to see Wall Of Voodoo play here in Vancouver around 83 or 84, in a club that fit about 50 people. They were intense, even scary. The audience backed away from the band! My memory is that it was a great show, but I was pretty young and back then they were all great shows. A number of people there only knew "Mexican Radio" and it was fun to see them recoil at the band's most twisted and depraved numbers. Great fun. As for bands reuniting, having seen reunion tours from the likes of the Psychedelic Furs and the Beat, I remain convinced that the time to see a band is when they are young and hungry, and their voices haven't gone. I keep hoping for a pair that might be haunted. But it is safe to say, my feet are of unexceptional size, and as such, provoke little commentary. I've been involved in literary-based on-line discussion lists for some time, and enjoy them, and so thought to look up lists for my other main interest - music. I've been listening intently to Hitchcock since I discovered I OFTEN DREAM OF TRAINS, and am now familiar with his whole catelogue. My favourite long work of his is JEWELS FOR SOPHIA. I've only seen Hitchcock perform live twice, once solo, and once with the Soft Boys. Occasionally I call him my favourite songwriter, though usually I call the Jazz Butcher that. Whatever other bands grab my fancy, and come and go, Hitchcock always remains high on my list of favourite songwriters and recording artists. I rank him as one of the most under-rated guitarists of pop/rock. Welcome, Palle! I haven't seen the late-model (and presumably English) Beat, but I've seen the Psychedelic Furs in both 1991 and 2001, and they were stupendously good both times. Maybe you caught Richard Butler on a bad night. In fact, of the latter-day versions of groups I can recall seeing in recent years (Echo & the Bunnymen, the Chilton/Stephens/Posies Big Star, Roxy Music, Wire, Rocket from the Tombs, the Fall, more if I thought about it), all of them were very good, and I always went away happy that I'd had the chance to see them. Heck, I may go see the Zombies next Wednesday. later, Miles ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Feb 2004 12:48:44 -0800 From: "Jason Brown \(Echo Services Inc\)" Subject: RE: bands reunited > > And if you *don't* work in a library. > > I do not, nor have I ever. > > Libraries and I don't get along.
