It's Grant and Robyn doing "Satellite of Love" http://www.scotopiapictures.com/Films/films.html Click on "Elixirs & Remedies" to load the video. Unfortunately, the movie itself is sold out, with no plans to re-issue it. Enjoy, Marc I think a good scene in a movie would be where one scientist tells another scientist, "You know what will save the world? You're holding it in your hand." And the other scientist looks, and in his hand are peanuts. Then when he looks up, the first scientist is being taken away to the insane asylum.--- Jack Handey ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Dec 2003 00:50:35 +1300 From: grutness@surf4nix.com (James Dignan) Subject: Cat Purr >>> YOU ARE CAT POWER FREE >>>When I see it, I always think "Why yes, I *am* Cat Power-free!" > >That's up there with Depeche Mode / Enjoy the Silence, and Paula Abduul / >Shut Up and Dance. At the very least they would probably have samplings from his sons who were killed a while back. It's the same idea of having sample DNA for Bin Laden. A while back I read something about them testing smears and chunks left behind after attacks on where we *thought* he may be. At least in that scenario I seem to remember that his family came forward and either were asked or offered up samples for testing. - -f. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Dec 2003 17:58:42 -0500 (EST) From: Christopher Gross Subject: RE: Caught. I'm not sure if this is a serious question or if you're just kidding around, but either way, here's an answer: they probably compared their new prisoner's DNA to samples from his daughters or other blood relatives, a pretty standard technique from what I've read. I remember a lot of discussion about this back during the "major combat" phase of the war, when people were wondering how the military could tell if Saddam had been killed in an airstrike. I'm sure everyone agrees that Saddam being captured can only be a good thing for Iraq. Not even the most fervent opponent of the war would want to see Saddam or his followers back in power, right? But in my naive hopeful fashion I think it may be good for the US too. Not only is there a *chance* that fewer of our troops will be killed from now on -- in addition, it's a good eleven months before the election, so there's a *chance* that in that time other issues will come to the fore and Bush will be unable to ride this one victory to reelection. Do they really want Hussein going to trial and bringing out witnesses to talk about US involvement in the his "atrocities"? (I quote that not because they weren't atrocious, but because they were labelled as such by folks directly responsible for those acts and worse.) I suppose that's why they were so quick to state that he would be tried in Iraq by Iraqis... their provisional government certainly doesn't have strong gaurantees of defendants rights to face his accusors and present whatever evidence he can in his favor. I'd much rather see an international court convened and some quality people put on his defense table. This is probably our one chance to bring any substantial portion of truth forward on this subject and that's about the only thing criminal courts are good for. I personally think the people were cheering at his capture under the mistaken assumption that it would mean the troops would leave and the people could rule themselves, finally... but I don't think the folks in Washington are about to give up that power.
