I've already cancelled my membership and I'm pissed off because it doesn't seem like that great a value to me especially since I with a little more effort I can get most of the stuff they have that I really want for free. And with just 40 downloads a month I would waste those on things like Jim Reeves or Terry Southern comedy albums. I'm sure they have good business reasons for the change like bigger indie labels like Matador wanting more money for putting their music on the site. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Oct 2003 11:27:54 -0700 From: "Glen Uber" Subject: Re: reap Ken Weingold wrote: >Exactly. That's pretty much it. I remember seeing a bumper sticker last year that read "Blackouts in '01, Grey out in '02". Again, as if it was all his doing. It's funny, talking to friends here in the office, the pro-recall folks are always saying things like "Davis is a crook!", and "Davis stole from the state!" But when I ask them to give me a single example, they can't. Unfortunately I think those kind of people are in the majority. Oh, and I just finished Al Franken's "Lying Liars..." The first was as headliner for a public radio benefit for the Athens station. Four (or so) songs long, with the highlights being a great version of Arms of Love and Michele. The second gig was down to the 40 Watt as part of the forth annual Tour de Sprawl. I've got to admit that was the first time seeing Robyn with a rap group as the opening act... The set was long-ish with two encores and deviated greatly from the posted set list. Omissions? The Yip Song and everything from Luxor. Four or five new songs, and while I'm completely shattered right now and on the verge of falling asleep, what I remember of the set included Raymond Chandler Evening, 1974, One Long Pair of Eyes, Strawberry Fields Forever, Visions of Johanna, New Age, and the GLP-esque Sound & Vision/In Love w/a Beautiful Woman (?) montage. I recorded both sets, but haven't had the opportunity to listen to them yet as I didn't get back to Atlanta until 3 in the morning. There's also some pictures, but they'll have to wait, too. There's an in-store at Criminal Records in Little 5 Points today at 4 that I'm going to try to bail from work for.
