Well....I see where this is going, but there is a history of naming sports teams--not just at the so-called professional level, but also in the minor leagues and school leagues--with names that suggest the teams are feral, mean and ruthless. Not all teams are like this, obviously, but near me there's a team called the Savages. They come from Comanche County. 99% of the players are white. Ok, maybe 98%, but the point is that historically the word Savage was meant as a pejorative and it's not the Native people who are using it for the team. Some sports teams have cute names, like the Penguins, others are just silly--not only are there the Texans professionally, my university mascot is the Texan as are several others in the state. It's strange how he chose to handle that. If he wanted to make money, why not just sell multiple dubs of the tapes at a lesser price? Probably would make more $$$ in the long run.... I can't say that I'm especially offended by the "immorality" of this auction, though. Eb ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V12 #346 ********************************
