The mix of fiction, fact, and animation was very inventive - a risky move which could have gone horribly wrong, but they pulled it off very well. Paul Giamatti was great - funnily, he looked more like the comic-book depictions of Pekar than he did like Pekar himself. Maybe that was deliberate. Hope Davis was good too. I'm a huge fan of Calvin's recorded work be it solo, with Beat Happening, or with Dub Narcotic Sound System but as a solo performer Calvin is deadly dull, which was really shocking to me because he is so dynamic and goofy when performing with his bands.
