He is also certifiably paranoid, although it seems to work as an attention-getting device for him. In the year 2000 I had similar delusions but it was due to having had brain surgery, and I was prescribed Rispiradone to help with the paranoia. This is how I know that this guy is not totally faking, because it sounds very familiar to me from my own experience. I had a large benign brain tumour removed and because it was deep in the center of my brain, in the ventricles, a lot of damage was done in removing it. The brain had to be separated at the corpus callosum and this caused two months of recovery in hospital. In my hospital room, there were hidden cameras watching my every move. When I was reading a magazine or newspaper, numbers would pop out and grab my attention like the number 30 (my birthday) or 15 (my husband's birthday). I was sure that the hidden cameras were registering my reaction to the things I was reading. One of the doctors in the hospital was called Dr. Killian. Every time she was paged, I worried that there was a plot to kill my husband (who is called Ian). I eventually got hold of copy of the British newspaper called the Guardian and hoped that by carrying it around I was protecting my husband ("guard Ian"). All very bizarre now, but logical at the time. The total egocentricity is a bizarre symptom, the whole world revolves around your life. Even nature was not reliable. One day when I went for a walk around the grounds of the hospital, I thought the rosehips on the bushes looked suspiciously huge... someone must have deliberately attached them to the branches just to freak me out. A movie had recently been filmed nearby, I remember trying to figure out who or why this would have been done to the rose bushes. The results of a combination of brain damage and too much time on your hands are not good!
