One of the opening bands was called Caramelize, from Brooklyn. The singer introduces them as 'car-mel-ize'. I think she is from around LA. The guitarist then corrects her, saying it's 'car-a-mel-ize'. Hah. - -Ken ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Jul 2003 21:53:10 -0400 (EDT) From: Jill Brand Subject: the thought of snow James, I can't even imagine snow at the moment. After constant rain and cold until 6/24, we have been ROASTING (no, actually, simmering) here in Boston for almost two weeks. Enjoy your snowball fight. I'm off to Germany on Tuesday. Have a good July, all. Sebastian, send me your telephone number if you read this. Fake Paul (I think his real name is Gary Grimes) plays lefty bass, but had to teach himself to do so as he's a natural northpaw. In the 'overkill' department Fake Ringo also taught himself to play drums left handed. - -rUss ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Jul 2003 04:12:00 -0400 From: Ken Weingold Subject: Re: Lefty bassists On Sat, Jul 5, 2003, russ reynolds wrote: > Saw "1964 The Tribute" a couple of months back. Damn are righties boring people. ;-) - -Ken ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Jul 2003 11:31:07 -0700 From: Glen Uber Subject: Re: Lefty bassists On Sunday, July 6, 2003, at 01:12 AM, Ken Weingold wrote: > On Sat, Jul 5, 2003, russ reynolds wrote: >> Saw "1964 The Tribute" a couple of months back. Damn are righties boring people. ;-) Ringo is left-handed, but I am certain that he played a right-handed kit, ie floor tom on the right, hi-hat on the left, play the snare with the left hand and the hi-hat with the right hand. Any footage of the group or any pics of Ringo himself will reveal this to be true. However, he still played the kit with a left-handed mindset: Much has been made of his "backwards" tom rolls which were due to his being left-handed. Cheers! - -g- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Jul 2003 11:35:58 -0700 From: Glen Uber Subject: More "port side" talk Phil Collins is a left-handed drummer, too, as is Ian Wallace. Unlike Ringo, their kits are oriented in a left-hand manner. I've heard tell that Stewart Copeland is left-handed, but he plays all his instruments right-handed. Can anyone confirm?
