I think it may refer to your tendency to express your views in ways that strongly imply the idea that anyone who disagrees is either morally shortsighted or intellectually dim. I mean, yeah, you've got to believe what you believe (and as I said the other day, if people are honest they'll admit that on serious questions, holding a strong opinion really does mean you think others are wrong), but the way it's expressed sometimes makes you come across an egocentric boor (and a bore too) - esp. to anyone who doesn't already agree with you. Which is, of course, the worst part: if the whole point of expressing your ideas is to persuade, that's the worst way to go about doing it...which gives people the impression you're not trying to persuade but only to blare. The anti-Steve blast is a good example (which you apologized for). ..Jeff J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society www.uwm.edu/~jenor/ADS.html :: we make everything you need, and you need everything we make ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jun 2003 08:22:44 -0500 From: Jeffrey with 2 Fs Jeffrey Subject: Re: Used to love these artists, but I had to kill them Quoting Marc Holden : > enthusiastically as I used to. I've seen him twice, and I'm all over it. If you've ever met Dolph, you would know that this is *not* an overstatement :) Regarding the lonesome organist, do see him at least once as recommended; you'll have a pretty strong opinion of him when you leave. And I'd be careful about overpaying...he opened for the SB's last trip through Chicago, which meant he cost me about what I would have paid to see him anyway. Nothing.
