It's a promo-only issue of the Respect CD, with bonus material in the form of in-between-song commentary on each track by Robyn, plus a couple of alternate versions of songs on the album added at the end (don't remember which off the top o'my head). I first saw this item in my old college radio station while I was back there on a visit during grad-school, probably not long after Respect was released. I resisted the urge to blatantly steal it, and then was relieved to find a copy in a used rack at The Record Swap in Homewood, IL (a rather staggering store by Midwest standards) a mere few weeks later, for a very reasonable price in the ten-bucks range. Being a collector-geek, the *relief* I experienced at finding this little treasure was considerable. I still see Spectre pop up on eBay once in a while, and seem to recall a couple copies going pretty cheaply. I can, of course, make CD-R copies for interested parties. Anybody wanna trade a copy of the rarities set that's going around? I've got plenty of other RH and non- stuff. da9ve ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 May 2003 09:58:37 -0500 From: Snatch Hackman Subject: Re: Spectre? > From: "Timothy Reed" > > I was surfing through allmusic.com - one of my favorite things to do > when I should be doing something else - and I came across an entry for > an RH album called 'Spectre.' Spectre is a legitimate, promo-only release issued by A&M as a companion to "Respect." It has the same songs, but features Robyn discussing each one, and, I believe, a different mix of one of the songs by Andy Metcalfe. I have it, and it's real nice. There was quite a bit of radio-only promo schwag issued by A&M when they had Robyn. The "Respect" lithograph is also very nice -- mine hangs in my bedroom. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 May 2003 11:21:54 -0400 From: The Great Quail Subject: Re: What a great response + >>> That's such a great response. The writer of the blog makes great sport of the notion that, hey, how can you tax something (bestiality is his example) that's already against the law? But of course there's a long tradition of states doing so - I believe a recent issue of _Harper's_ reproduced one state's form that was to be filled out by drug dealers to pay monies due on their income. And yes, it was supposedly anonymous: they had a system whereby people could pay w/o incriminating themselves (the 5th Am. of the Constitution, which despite Ashcroft & Co.'s best efforts, is still law). - --Jeff, spoilsport J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society www.uwm.edu/~jenor/ADS.html :: PLEASE! Because the city of Halle, Germany, is right on the E. 12th Meridian. On the 12th day of April, 2003, Our Lady Heidi Klum was on the E. 12th Meridian, in Warnemuende, Germany, to christen the cruise ship AIDA Aura. The 12th day of April was the anniversary of the first manned space flight by Yuri Gagarin in 1961. The launch of the AIDA Aura is part of a great mystery, related to human progress, that will unfold over the months and years to come. Next year, in August 2004, the AIDA Aura will be anchored in the port of Athens and serve as the sea-borne hotel for the German Olympic Committee during the Athens Olympics. Goddess Heidi herself is likely to be there, too, and stay on the AIDA Aura. The city of Halle, Germany, is on the E. 12th Meridian and close to the N. 51st Parallel, that also passes by Cologne, Heidi's hometown.
