Tonight I'm going to give Aimee Manna second chance for a live show. I love the records, but her first concert I went to was a let-down. Tonight she's playing at a much larger place, which makes me somewhat wary. Anyhow, the first time around all I knew was the Magnolia soundtrack. Now that I've got much more of her work maybe I'm better prepared to enjoy the performance ... ;-) While I was at it I also got a ticket for Johnny Marr & The Healers. They're playing at a rather small club where I went to my first "real" concerts. My initiation was in 1985 when I saw R.E.M. there. But I missed the Smiths and have never seen Johnny Marr live. I haven't heard a single track of his new band, but decided I'd just go for it. Has anybody seen them live? I saw the Fruit Bats open up for the Shins and they were really good - at least, what I could hear was good. The crowd at Berbati's Pan (same place I saw Interpol) was so fucking noisy that they were nearly drowned out. But I also heard a song of theirs on one of those Internet radio thingies and it was awesome. Their album is on my list of records to buy. Truly, the ion storms are strong if I am agreeing with Eb.
