It's been almost exactly 10 years since Robyn played Phoenix. Glad he's at an indoor venue this time so he shouldn't have his set interrupted by dust storms. It also cuts about 800 miles off my roundtrip. Seems kind of weird to get so little advance notice. Nell Carter exited, and now Nedra Volz. Who's next? Charlotte Rae had better *watch out*. Show movie After months and months of reading about Run Ronnie Run, the Mr. Show movie, I decided to buy a copy on VCD on ebay. Man this movie stinks, I love Mr. Show but this is garbage. I hope they never release it, IMHO it's embarrassing. I'd also recommend "At Swim Two Birds" which, if anything, is even more deeply layered than T3P. It's a book about a student writing a book about an author writing a book in which the characters, dissatisfied with their one-dimensional plot, conspire to kill the author. I'd recommend everything by FO'B except "The Dalkey Archive" (too maudlin, even though it has De Selby in it) and the George Knowall ("Myles Away From Dublin") writings, which require too much knowledge of 1950s rural Irish politics for me. I downloaded a copy off KaZaA months ago, and I've still not been able to watch more than ten-minute chunks of it. Bob and David have had the good sense to disown it, and apparently the dismal quality of the finished film is due in no small part to meddling by the studio. Still, there are more laughs in five minutes of any 'Mr. Show' episode than there are in the whole "Run, Ronnie, Run" feature. - --Perry (who still smarts from driving all the way to Atlanta to see "Brain Candy" the weekend it was released) __________________________________________________ Yahoo! And also anything 'For Steam Men' from the Myles na gCopaleen columns. It is _essential_ that you have no knowledge of the operation of Irish railways to appreciate these outpourings. From a friend who was a frequent IE traveller, it sounded like IE themselves would fit into this category.
