I'm still stunned that there are two other people on the planet who own it. Gotta love how the 'net brings like mind together. I might just have to digitize the whole thing and host it somewhere. But I am contributing to the project. I've got quite a few Bad Music LPs, and my first cut is scheduled for January 24 (Shooby Taylor? You ain't heard nothing yet!). Otis is a cool dood and I'm glad to help bring music of dubious sanity to the unwashed masses. . Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Any suggestions? gah - there are a bundle, but few with Hitchcock's skewed view of the world. Personally I'd recommend hunting out some Richard Thompson and Nick Drake for starters, then try Ed Kuepper, the GoBetweens, and David Kilgour. Go back to the sources and add The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and Pentangle, Maybe throw in some Ron Sexsmith, Billy Bragg, Muttonbirds, and Neil Finn too, although much of Bragg, MB and Finn's guitar is electric. Other than that, just do what the rest of us do and keep an eye out for any names mentioned on the list! Some other favored artists who were overlooked, who seemed to have a feasible chance: Weezer, Tori Amos, the Vines, Neil Young, Tom Waits, They Might Be Giants (Best Children's Album?) and especially Jurassic 5. It has videos for One Long Pair of Eyes, Madonna of the Wasps, Balloon Man, Raymond Chandler Evening, a live version of Brenda's Iron Sledge (probably the same one from Gotta Let This Hen Out--it's been a while since I've watched it), I often Dream of Trains, and The Man with the Lightbulb Head. It came out on A&M Video (VC 61312), 1989. I'll see that dubious sanity, and raise you Rev Dr Fred Lane. His early work with the Tuscaloosa Free Improv crowd in the mid-70s (Raudelunas 'Pataphysical Revue) is inspired, demented, and mostly unlistenable. There is also "Brenda of the Lightbulb Eyes", a collection of music videos, off the top of my head they are the videos for the man with the lightbulb head, balloon man, one long pair of eyes, madonna of the wasps, i often dream of trains and raymond chandler evening, but brenda's iron sledge must be on there too, given the title of the comp (perhaps it's the GLTHO! version from the Marquee club?) The MotW and OLPoE videos are annoyingly mtv-ified, but the others are pretty cool. Raymond Chandler Evening features a disembodied hat and andy metcalfe as a corpse. The only other RH music video I know of is Driving Aloud, which MTV only played once - when RH was hosting! There have also been a couple fan-produced compilations made on this list and distributed free. I bet someone would make you a copy. =b - -- http://glasshotel.net/glassflesh ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2003 09:13:16 -0800 From: "Jason Brown (Echo Services Inc)" Subject: another list (for those that care) Top Ten albums of 2002: 1.
