X Files. Can't you just see Mulder smirking at Scully saying "you heard the man, Scully: the universe is based on sullen >entropy". Heh, that fits almost too well:-) - ----------------- Rex: "Madrigal Boy" is a great idea. If I knew more about music Id be quite tempted to steal it. But to make it more Robyn friendly let me interfere with the following... Robyn plays a truely scary alternative version of a himself. Washed-up, freeze-dried, broke, coked-out, speeded-out, smacked-out or whatever drug of trendy choice is current, rock personage who sold out his true talent(becoming Robyn Hitchcock) for a mess of pottage and short-lived popularity. Now he endlessly tours crappy, creepy venues(touches of Spinal Tap,) picking up young idealistic pick-up bands as he goes(Leglos plays one of these young fellas (my daughter made me say that))who are overly impressed by his obvious talent and early, really good work and also more than disgusted by his waste of all of the above, not to mentioned any tinges of humanity he might have started off with. Anyway, he and his kid cohorts(guys and girls of all shades choosen by whoever casts Buffy?)get vortexed back. Some of them go off on seperate adventures, with various meetings up at proprioutious or not times, etc. Robyn's character is immediatly deprived of his drug of choice and perhaps he cant drink cause of stomach problems? -- so has to straighten himself out, one way or the other( and of course at least one of the band is co-dependent having grown up in that sort of household and sticks around to help but really isnt much help.) Anyway alternative Robyn now has to deal with not only addiction issues but reality, and what a reality. One of the kids runs afoul of the church, one of the females gets in big trouble for being uppity, the blacks are seen as Moors and persecuted, perhaps one of the females falls in with the local wisewoman? What year does this start? Are they in Cathar-rich Provance? The court of Marie de France? One of Dante's circle of young poets in Florence? The Robyn figure befriends Roger Bacon? And you realize in the Middle Ages Robyn would have been seen as almost a giant(wasn't average male height just a bit over 5 feet?) and perhaps collected by some decadent evil noble as part of his human menage. Yikes, what a fertile initial concept. This isnt just a series. Its a 10 year series with spin-offs:-) You and wifey are gooood. >Oh, and Kay, what's Katie's "proper" name? We've got a Katherine on the way, although we're gonna call her Ridley. Shes a Katherine, Mike got to choose the female name, me the male, and we got a she. So far the only varient she likes more than Katie is ... this is almost embarressing ... Kay. Ive told her once she moves out of the house if she wants to be a Kay fine. Its kinda weird, cause Im not wild on the whole junior concept. Im trying to sell her on Kate. And how did you come up with Ridley? - ------------------ Drew, Since Id be interested in what you have to say, but do habitually interrupt(and can only partially stifle it when I try, ... and I do try(but Im impulsive )) if we ever meet, could you just gag me at appropraite moments? Or, if you'd prefer conversation, if I try not to give offense, could you try not to take offense if I lapse? >Doctor Who I loved because the Doctor himself was so admirable and >likeable. Couldn't agree more. He tended to use his greater knowledge and power as gently as possible. He was a teacher not a superhero. Thats rare on TV. - --------------- Blessed Solistice all around More feggy pudding all around Kay "For in Calormen, story-telling (whether the stories are true or made up)is a thing you're taught, just as English boys and girls are taught essay writing. The difference is that people want to hear the stories, whereas I never heard of anyone wanting to read the essays." Are they all noisy? Mine sounds like a small refridgerator. If I exchange it for another, am I likely to get one that's not as noisy? (BTW, there seem to be two versions of the MP3 firmware out there: one that plays back a multi-directory as one big disk with hundreds of tracks, and one that shows the subdirs by name). Mine model is a something or other 1200. It's the only one with 1200 in the name. Still no nibbles on my call for FTP help. Did I mention I'm getting desperate? How about some help in recognition of 7 years of one-liners and non-sequiturs? Or shall I change my name to Baldy? ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V11 #429 ********************************
