Wonder if he still has the sideburns now he's at USCD? Uggggghhhhh...that movie was miserable from beginning to end. I can't really say whether it was good or not...it just felt miserable. Leo was okay, I guess, but his relentlessly contemporary diction and accent ruin all his attempts to play historical figures for me. Cool. You would ideally customize them ahead of time to resemble the band members. Which leads one to ask-- which action figure would most easily be modified, with the addition of a tiny little Telecaster, the resemble Robyn? Bonus points for the other SB's. Brings to mind Bongwater's song "Nick Cave Dolls". Wouldn't mind an Ann Magnuson doll. Now there's an interesting West Virginian for ya. >>np: The Beatles _The Esher Tapes_ (calm down - it's only a bootleg) Beatles boots are always more interesting in what they're named than what they contain. My favorite was an LP called The Beatles, FUCK! The cover looked just like HELP! with the title logo switched out, and the band was doing the semaphore in their underwear. There was a songlist with all the HELP! songs modified to include the title word ("You're Gonna Fuck That Girl", "You've Got to Fuck Your Hide Away", etc.) but it was really a bunch of early studio outtakes, the usual stuff... ______ Forwarded by Michael G: >>Sid has been working on several reissue projects, including Gene Clark's 'White >>Light'. Cool, a little quality control on that reissue. That, Nextdoorland and the new Sleater-Kinney are definitely my most eagerly-awaited releases for the foreseeable future. I had a dream that I was at a Sleater-Kinney show and I was desperately searching the merch table for a baby-sized S-K shirt for my daughter, as I had for some reason become thoroughly convinced that they were available and that Miranda absolutely had to have one because how cool would that be. But these strange pseudo-hippies at the booths kept trying to sell me these bizarrely stiff baby-sized t-shirts made out of some kind of vellum-like material which no toddler would tolerate on her body for an instant. It was most vexing. So that's the kind of stuff that happens to me when I actually do manage to sleep. - -Rex ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 13:02:41 -0500 (CDT) From: Jeffrey with 2 Fs Jeffrey Subject: Re: Robyn action figures, baby fashion, etc. On Fri, 16 Aug 2002, Rex.Broome wrote: > Cool. Is it just me, or does Seligman have a Henry Spencer (Jack Nance) feel in the current promo photo? Speaking of David Lynch...last week I watched the Far East DVD version of Mulholland Drive, and when Laura drops her robe for the bedroom scene with Naomi they blocked out her naughty bits. But they left all the smooching in, which was nice. I went to the Soft Boys site but didnt see it. Is it posted anywhere on the net yet? I always liked stuffed animals better than dolls. How do you think a prawn would look in a bright shirt and with a monobrow drawn on? Perhaps Morris would like to be spider in shades so he could play the whole drum kit at once. Im tempted to go for cliche and say a 'roo for Rew but perhaps he'd settle for an emu with e-bow instead. But Matthew--what creature for him? Ah well. it's a very rare feg who gets mentioned while they're gone from the list (although it does happen - Eb being a prime example*). Bit disappointing as (I presume due to poor ticket sales) the four shows as listed on The Assemly Rooms' website had reduced to two, one on each day and tickets were being sold "2 for the price of 1" at the box office on the day of the show. Here's the setlists if anyone's interested... Monday 12th August The Edinburgh Suite @ The Assembly Rooms (Large hall with air-conditioning and tiered seating) New Song (Let The Sun Begin?) Cheese Alarm Silver Dagger The Ghost In You Victorian Squid The Devil's Coachman Sleeping With Your Devil Mask 1974 I Saw Nick Drake I Often Dream of Trains (Electric) You And Oblivion (Electric) New Song Or Cover? Title could be 'Behind Her Eyes' or perhaps 'Creeped Out American Girl' (Electric) Vibrating (Electric) Tuesday 13th August The Supper Room @ The Assembly Rooms (Smaller hall with mostly (creaky) floor seating and no air-conditioning) Eight Miles High The Ghost In You Not Dark Yet (Dylan) Arms Of Love A Man's Got To Know His Limitations, Briggs The Speed Of Things One Long Pair Of Eyes Vibrating (Electric) Queen Of Eyes (Electric) She Doesn't Exist (Electric) New Song Or Cover? Title could be 'Behind Her Eyes' or perhaps 'Creeped Out American Girl' (Electric) Freeze (Electric) First night was plagued with sound problems and wasn't that good. Sound better on the second night and the performance was a lot more enthusiastic. And in response to Stewart's question the other day, yes, Sadowitz is a big fan, I've seen him at almost all of the major London gigs over the last 6 or 7 years or so and a few outside of London too...
