It sounds to me like you have an "upgraded" IIe. The upgrade kit came with a new motherboard and a replacement badge for the case. All is explained here: http://apple2history.org/history/ah11.html Wow, that really takes me back. I have my original 1978 "red book" Apple ][ in the basement with a floppy drive. Even though it is original I modified it some, replacing the original mask ROM chips with EEPROM and applesoft and Inspector EEPROMs. All you had to do was invert the chip select to use them, adding a 7404 in one of the "spare" chip sites on the board. I also removed the 2513 character set ROM with an EPROM to give me lower case (using the C-A software hack) as well as a computer lettering character set of my own design that I could switch between using a toggle switch in back. on 7/13/02 10:37 AM, Gene Hopstetter, Jr. at gene@hopstetter.com wrote: > I have an old Apple computer. Yes, the GS was toward the end of life, when they some of those stipped down Apples. > And to make things even more complicated, I'll be danged if I can > figure out how to work the danged thing. On the really old ones you could boot off the floppy with PR#6 at the prompt. Other than that I think you have a BASIC prompt. Start having fun! jv ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jul 2002 13:53:11 -0700 (PDT) From: "drew" Subject: flamers > From: "Natalie Jane" > The title track is also fun - I > like the way Wayne Coyne says "Yoshim-eh" Me too. My girlfriend and I are totally loving that song. The Soft Bulletin has taken a long time to fully grow on me, but now that I'm used to Coyne's voice it's easier to listen to. I still skip a few tracks ("Race for the Prize" in particular). But yeah, we've played the Yoshimi (Yoshime?) track many many times on repeat now. "Fun" is the word. Maybe I'll have to buy this one, despite your not-as-good-as-the-last-one warning. Thanks for the review. > From: " FS Thomas" > > http://www.jaguaro.org/feature/03-09-02_wesk.shtml I enjoyed that, actually, even when it slammed some of my favorite albums for no good reason (Heaven or Las Vegas, for instance). It probably doesn't seem all that daring to this group, but it sure pissed off some of my friends. My new eMac is totally awesome except that the video has started to flake very badly on me. I'm going to have to take it in for service this weekend. I'll let you know how it turns out. Hey, Letting y'all know - weeks too late, sorry - that I'm in the hospital. I think I'll get a pass so I can go see Robyn. Who's all going to the gig? Will I get a chance to meet some fegs at the Horseshoe? :-} I don't know if I can meet before hand - but if Caroline or Stewart or whomever else is going to the show has any ideas - I'm open to trying to get away from the hospital earlier. ;-} Btw - any NYC fegs coming in for the show? Anyhow - email me if you're going - hopefully we can all meet up for a drink before or after or during the show. fading back into yesterday before tomorrow comes, Randi toronto, ontario, canada *what scares you most will set you free* ~ robyn hitchcock *the longer you hide ... the more you deny* ~ neil finn *by endurance we conquer* ~ sir ernest shackleton ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V11 #233 ********************************
