Come to think of The Damned covering Space Ritual could work, the new rhythm could pound it out with no probs, Sensible's lost in reverb wah guitar would be perfect and the lyrics are no dumber than stuff that Vanian has sung before. Also on a related theme. Zappa did Ruben and the Jets, XTC did 25 O'clock/Psionic Psunspot, so where are the Nu Metal bands doing '77 punk or the drum and bass or garage act doing Disco? I saw this weird little indie band the other week called VHS or Beta. I think they're from Kentucky or Tennessee. Their music was a grooving instrumental hybrid of disco and 80s stadium rock, with a wee bit of modern dance music thrown in. Cool at first and very catchy, but it grew very monotonous as the set dragged on. Blue Note did a series of albums where jazz artists would cover complete classic rock/pop albums. Someone did a Stevie Wonder one, probably Superstition. The only one I picked up was Charlie Hunter re-doing Bob Marley's Natty Dread. - --- Jason Thornton "I can offer nothing This nothing's everlasting" -- David Sylvian ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Jun 2002 11:16:27 -0700 From: glen uber Subject: Re: Johnny Morris Michael earnestly scribbled: >PS Guess who play bass and drums on Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London"?
