They are not all bad - I've been having some fun with them personally - and I'm going to be *35*! You had friends and Guinness in your corner when you were 29, bet ya still have 'em now that you're 30! ;-} !!!! Happy Birthday !!!! Speaking of Guinness - sort of - there is a pub in T.O. - about a block from my place - that is open 24 hours straight for the duration of the soccer. I don't get many games on tv, and I've become slightly fanatical since I had crazy Scottish and British roommates who made me watch every game with them. 24 hours a day! And this bar is hoppin' at 4 in the morning. A wish I'll share with everyone - "I wish Robyn and Emma Thompson would do a duet." I've been waiting to tell this to Robyn - and Emma is up for it ... (met her in 1989 when her and Ken and the Renaissance Theatre Company were doing 'King Lear' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in rep - they were here for two weeks - Emma & Richard Briers helped me write an essay about Shakespeare - I showed Emma the good shops - (she bought a lot of clothes) - and I realized Ken has no lips!) ... am I the only one who thinks that Robyn & Emma would do a wicked cool duet? fading back into yesterday before tomorrow comes, Randi Toronto, Ontario, Canada *what scares you most will set you free* ~ Robyn Hitchcock *the longer you hide ... the more you deny* ~ Neil Finn *by endurance we conquer* ~ Sir Ernest Shackleton ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Jun 2002 19:26:58 -0400 From: *twofangs / rand* Subject: music software Quick question: Is there some kind of software that allows you to edit songs together (for live shows) and fade in and out a song that maybe ends too abruptly? But if you're going to include McGann in the ratings, then you should include Peter Cushing as well, for he was in a couple of Dr Who movies in the early 1960s. >What's not to like? This is going to be one GREAT World Cup. agreed! sdly, although yes, I do get to watch matches at a sensible time of day (Eng vs Swe was on at 9.30pm), they are not on free-to-air TV until the quarterfinals. Cologne is pretty close to Belgium, that's why it's on cable. I don't speak much French, but it doesn't really matter that much for football matches and besides I find that I understand much more than I would've expected. After all, English vocabulary is basically French with a different pronunciation :-) Formidable! - -- Sebastian Hagedorn Ehrenfeldg|rtel 156 50823 Kvln http://www.spinfo.uni-koeln.de/~hgd/ Being just contaminates the void - Robyn Hitchcock ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Jun 2002 08:18:48 -0500 From: "Mike Wells" Subject: Re: More World Cup > > agreed! sdly, although yes, I do get to watch matches at a sensible time > > of day (Eng vs Swe was on at 9.30pm), they are not on free-to-air TV > > until the quarterfinals. All the games are on "free" TV here (some over-the-air, some cable), but there's a similar language twist. While ABC/ESPN have committed to carrying all the games, they restricting WHEN certain games televise. I noticed over last weekend they cherry-picked the best-looking overnight game - they start bewteen midnight & 6am here - to run the following afternoon and blacked it out during the live slot. Bastards! I got up at 4 to watch England v Sweden, and there was drag racing on. Fortunately, the Spanish language UniVision had it live...GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL (I watched the Germany v Saudi Arabia game in Spanish too, got to hear that 8 times...the announcers were having trouble keeping up). I understand that they won't be doing this for our opening game on Wednesday. > Formidable! Gesundheit!
