Speaking of this...I'm looking for someone who has the "I Am Sam" soundtrack and would be interested in a quick swap (actually after a copy of this for the wife for the Vedder cover, strange that it cropped up for other reasons). I can BNP, trade, whatever. Contact offlist if you can help, thx. I think he gets really self-conscious sometimes. I didn't mind it on "The Greatest Living Englishman" because the songs were so strong, but on "The Spirit Cage" it just started to grate. And yeah, Ray Davies is self-consciously English too, but he's, y'know, *Ray Davies*. Not sure if I mentioned seeing Ray Davies in "concert" a while back. Entertaining but pandering pre-scripted blather about Ray's life, all building up to the climactic writing of "You Really Got Me." Pretty self-congratulatory stuff. Someone called out a request and he refused because it wasn't part of the script. Blah. And every song got a goddamn standing ovation from the slobbering crowd. But on the other hand, I saw Ray Davies sing "Waterloo Sunset," and I can now die happy. I saw Martin Newell perform also, when I was in England, and it was pretty damn cool. He does an excellent Andy Partridge impersonation. >Track Number 2 is a PIXIES cover. I knew David and >Frank did the 50th party together. Pretty neat to >hear it. Ken, I got 7 Worlds Collide at Amazon.com last month, it's been available here in the states for almost 2 months now. It's a great DVD, well worth picking up. Both had moments that were pretty good, but Man, those shows ROCKED! It was like "Captain Scarlet," but bigger, better, and with better puppets! UFO was great -- chicks with silver bras and purple hair, a globe-spanning secret organization with subs that turned into spaceships, and UFOs that liked Art-Deco gyroscopes! I even had a UFO lunch kettle. And don't get me started on Space 1999! *More* purple-haired silvery chicks, crazy-ass plots like Star Trek on peyote, and one of the scariest hours of TV ever, when big rubber one-eyed orange aliens took over the station, and gave of evil space-fumes that made everyone believe they were seeing long-lost loved ones -- everyone that is except for one guy, who had to pretend that the big, rubber, one-eyed orange aliens were actually beloved relatives!
