And I even got a little choked up at the death of Uncle Ben (not quite a spoiler, it's the central fact about Spiderman's life, if you're at all familiar with it). I saw it twice -- first time through, I thought it was brilliant, and it may not exactly hold up through repeated viewings, but if you ever had any stake at all in Spiderman as a comix-reading kid or now, see it. If you're into that sort of thing, check out Run C&W. They do bluegrassy versions of classic Stax/Volt Soul and R&B songs. As I recall, the members included ex-Eagle Bernie Leadon, ex-Amazing Rhythm Ace Russell Smith and two other guys. Another great parody band is Big Daddy who do 50s-styled versions of everything from "Hotel California" to "Bette Davis Eyes" to the entire Sgt. Pepper album. "The Black Rider" is definitely *different* if that's what you are looking for -- but it is also (in places) kinda like the worst of OTC -- weird bangs and shouts, that bear little resemblance to "music." Incidentally, that's the only Waits record *I've* ever sold. Re: Mule Variations -- I see your point, but, for me, "Big in Japan" -- hearkening back to the SwordfishRainDogsFrank'sWildYears sound makes the disc.
