And I'll be damned if it doesn't remind me of the Jean-Paul Sartre Experience's quieter moments. Slide guitars, quiet Moogs, strings, cool vibes, this is a good listen. Genesis "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" -- Wow, I never imagined Genesis couldn't suck. But Brian Eno worked on it, which may explain it. The keyboard work, replete with obligatory Mellotrons, is very nice. Roger Eno "The Flatlands" -- brother of that guy Brian. Wonderfully recorded modern string compositions. Stirring and beautiful. I'm listening to Roger's recordings to ease myself into listening to classical string compositions; he has an impeccable sense of space and timing (to my ears). I also recently scored a pile of 50s-era Columbia deep-groove mono LPs. Hearing Ellington and Louis Armstrong that way is wonderful. Yahoo!
