It's because you're not supposed to copy the distorted ones to VHS cassette. You might put the publishers of the DVDs out of business that way. Yep, that's it. Of course, that was Jon's selection and Jon was the one singing it -- Robyn was just playing guitar. Incidentally, Paul F. Tompkins is the headliner at the Largo Comedy Show tonight, with several other comedians and one musician also on the lineup. The promo flyers also say "Special musical guests!!! You will be surprised at how special the guests are!" I'm not leaping to any conclusions here, but Robyn was there Friday and Saturday, the place was closed Sunday, "special musical guests" Monday, and Robyn Tuesday. Make of that what you will. Fuck them, Gene -- post without fear! The fluorescent red discs have been unfairly oppressing the Day-Glo orange discs for the last fifty years! I mean, I'm not like that nut-case GSS here -- I don't want all the red discs broken up and the kilns disbanded or anything -- but I do think that the orange discs are in need of a broader campaign of advocacy, especially in the light of recent inflammatory comments by the President of the International Skeet Shooting Commision, Boutros Kofi-Kofi. Though please don't rank me in with those freaking Naderites, either, with their "Better Dead than Red" crap. (Those humorless nay-sayers can't think of a positive slogan that rhymes with "orange," I bet.) If it weren't for them splitting the damn vote, the moderate Slate-Grey To Slightly-Off-Yellow Disc lobby would have had a better showing, and perhaps ended this tragic red-disc hegemony. Aw, but there I go again, into the politics. Maybe I had better just take the middle path -- sit down to a nice cold beer, clean my shotgun, and throw on my favorite Rush song, "The Discs." Ok, I am fairly new here in the dvd world and since the old good tv went on the blink I have been using a new old tv that only has the coax input. So, some DVDs are copy protected and some are not? When we hooked the ps2 directly into the tv's coax input, running through the ps2 switch, both the star trek movie and rush chronicles were distorted. Only the Monty Python discs played correctly. The exact same results came from the apex 500w running into the av1 inputs of the vcr. Does this have something to do with the composite signal not being modulated correctly for the coax cable? If so then is there an adapter that I can connect to the output s-video or rca jacks on the dvd to a coax that will modulate the signal correctly since this is the only input on my new old tv and will this correct the problems with the Star Trek and Rush discs? gSs ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Apr 2002 10:06:00 -0400 From: "ross taylor" Subject: tales from underwater cover art Can anyone point me to the Tales From Underwater cover art again?
