Yeah, but you get to talk to such *interesting* people that way. > They're from Liverpool and their stage shtick is wearing > surgical masks and scrubs. While wandering through my local mega-mall/discount-outlet the other day I stumbled into a store called "Smartscrubs" - a huge store entirely devoted to surgical scrubs in all sorts of exciting colors and prints - including kids sizes as well as "his 'n hers". Bizarre! I couldn't be sure if this was the next big fashion trend or whether hospital denizens constitute a massive untapped market. Judging by the rather smart flowered stethoscope holders, I suspect the latter. > ... they have a delightfully irritating > singer (with the delightfully British name of Ade Blackburn) Well, I suppose Ade could be short for Adrian, but it still sounds rather "Ford Prefect"-ish to me! > ... Though they do use a drum machine on some songs > - - I wonder if that's a 60's relic as well? I doubt it. Hey, I actually own a 1960's drum machine, and I doubt it too! The band used to call it "Huey" on account of the sound ...which made us want to throw up! It's somewhere in the attic right now, but if I remember correctly its wooden case is graced by a tempo control and a row of plastic push-buttons giving a choice of about eight rhythms (of which Rock-1, Rock-2 and Bossa were the only vaguely useable variations). I cant speak for Clinic, but if I was performing with that thing you can be sure my trusty DR-550 would be hidden inside. ;) > far as flavor-of-the-week bands go, the Strokes can go fuck themselves. Subject: info on largo show? I've been totally out of the loop, as I've been offline for over a month as I completed a cross-country move. I know live wayyy out here in the Pacific time zone (a bizarre concept to me), and within driving distance of Southern California. I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I'm interested in finding out about the Largo show next month. How does one get tickets? Are they General Admission? I'd really appreciate it if someone "in the know" would contact me off-list. Thanks! Yeah, before the show this one guy threw an arm around me and announced, "You can do it!" "Do what?" said I, nonplussed. "Whatever you're doing!" he exclaimed. He then explained that he was having trouble standing up because of "My ol' Mexican pal tequila!" >While wandering through my local mega-mall/discount-outlet the other >day I >stumbled into a store called "Smartscrubs" - a huge store >entirely devoted >to surgical scrubs in all sorts of exciting colors >and prints - including >kids sizes as well as "his 'n hers". Since I work at a nursing school, we often get catalogs for stuff like this. I'm thinking they're mainly aimed at nurses who work in pediatrics and want to wear cute scrubs to make the kids happy. The stuff about the kids' sizes baffles me, though. If I do decide to go into midwifery, I'm going to have to buy a set of scrubs, and I'll probably go for the ones with the cute little fluffy sheep on them. >Well, I suppose Ade could be short for Adrian, but it still sounds >rather "Ford Prefect"-ish to me! The top part of her jiggles as she wheels herself on stage in an extremely battered-looking wheelchair. She just has the two arms, but she seems to have too many legs. Also too many teeth. We have seen her practicing water ballet in the hotel swimming pool. (Later, during the talent show, she will perform in tank made of specially treated glass.) We have to admit Miss Rhode Island has talent but we have trouble saying her name. Too many sibilants. Also, at breakfast her breath smells of raw fish and at night the hoarse mutterings of spells, incantations, the names of the elder gods heard through the wall have caused us to lose sleep. Miss Rhode Island's bathing costume is designed to show off her many shapely legs, which she waves and writhes at the judges enticingly. We decide that we will never, never live in Rhode Island. Perhaps we will never leave this hotel: perhaps we will just live here. - ------------------------------------------------- Mayo-Wells Media Workshop dmw@ http://www.mwmw.com mwmw.com Web Development * Multimedia Consulting * Hosting ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Mar 2002 20:14:43 -0600 From: "Michael Wells" Subject: Re: fegmaniax-digest V11 #96 James > Taroh semua pokok rendah sama-sama di-situ!* > *it means "Put all the small shrubs together over there!" in Malay :-p How do they say "got shafted at the Oscars" in Maori?
