I'm totally ready for a Rock and Roll Rush Road Trip. >Oh, and the release for the new record has been pushed back to April 22nd. Ack. But I heard a rumor that it'll be released as an HDCD, so that'll make it worth the wait. And considering Mr. Peart's recent misfortunes, I cannot wait to see how or if he deals with it in his lyrics, or if Rush actually makes sad or angry music. >It really sounds like this is the last one, sad to say. I hadn't heard that. I wouldn't be surprised though. Personally, I thought Rush jumped the shark back around Power Windows, but I expect their next record to be quite good. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Feb 2002 15:40:27 -0500 From: "Mike Hooker" Subject: way off topic hi, if anyone has any need for some new DC2120 ( QIC-80) data back up tapes, let me know. ive got a shit load, i'll trade them, sell them, practically give them away. thanks BWT: i'm always up for trades, check my list( keep trying, the AOL URL is flaky) take at look at my music trading list ( new URL) http://hometown.aol.com/mhooker216/myhomepage/index.html have fun, Mike Hooker ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Feb 2002 16:15:55 -0500 (EST) From: Aaron Mandel Subject: Re: Top this! The only thing is that two-words and three-words are sort of scored separately, because three-word whacks are easier to find but have much higher scores. You can still use the standard scoring mechanism to compare one three-word whack with another. a ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 04 Feb 2002 07:28:40 +0000 From: "Stewart C. Down by the sea! Talking of the neiges d'antan, do you know that Miles na gCopaleen piece where he suggests that next time it snows, you should collect some and keep it in a cool place? Then, when a friend asks (as they are bound to do sooner or later) 'Ou sont les neiges d'antan?' you can go to the fridge and say 'They are in here'. - - Mike Godwin PS re trepanning: My understanding is that trepanning is what you do, and the trephine is the sort of drilling apparatus you do it with. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Feb 2002 10:03:20 -0500 From: The Great Quail Subject: Close to the Peart Gene "Relaxing to Conet Numbers" Hopstetter writes, >And considering Mr. Peart's recent misfortunes, I cannot wait to see >how or if he deals with it in his lyrics, or if Rush actually makes >sad or angry music. I know, I have been interested in this myself. I think Peart can be a powerful lyricist when he bends his mind to it. Such an awful time he's had of late, it has to have an impact on his music. I am expecting a more introspective album than usual. Still, though, he may just as well decide to escape dealing with it artistically, which may make for a shallow album. >I hadn't heard that. I wouldn't be surprised though. Personally, I >thought Rush jumped the shark back around Power Windows, but I >expect their next record to be quite good. Yeah, I think "Power Windows" was there first critically weak album. But I think their last few have picked up the pace, and while the days of "Hemispheres" and "Moving Pictures" have been over for a long, long time, at least Rush makes music which is distinctly, well, Rush-like. And their last tour -- the double-set retrospective tour - -- wow. They had a wonderful time with old music, and really seemed in great spirits. Of course, that was right before Peart lost his family. - --Quail ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V11 #39 *******************************
