On the off chance, despite the fact that much of Grant Lee's music just bounces off me (Laurence, sorry, I know I'm a peasant), I bought myself a couple of tickets for the 24th. Oh yeah, and a Happy New Year to those of you in advanced time zones - what _are_ you doing reading email at this point? x Jim ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Dec 2001 02:47:50 -0800 From: Eb Subject: PS This is one of the most brilliantly designed links pages I've ever seen: http://www.lilypad.demon.co.uk/bragg/ Kudos to whoever, Eb ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Jan 2002 02:09:59 +1300 From: grutness@surf4nix.com Subject: Re: Giving in >Resemblance of Lorien elves to Nelson: A nah. Too many limbs, too many eyes. While you were giving LoTR a "B" average, I was spending the last afternoon of 2001 watching, of all things, Monsters Inc. Thoroughly enjoyed it too. Can't remember the last time that I enjoyed two movies in one year which were animated (either drawn or CG), but both MI and Shrek hit the right spot for me. Happy new year, y'all. No, no, I didn't mean that over-forties wouldn't like the music. I meant that many over-forties whose lives revolve around their kids' various extracurricular activities don't get a chance to check things out that they might otherwise like. 1989 is the watershed year for music in my life. Before then, I went to gigs once a week and loved all kinds of obscure music; after that it was Raffi and Peter,Paul, and Mommy for a number of years. It wasn't until Ray Davies started doing solo gigs in the fall of 1995 that I decided that I was entitled to *some* form of musical entertainment that wasn't cute. OK, Ray is cute, but.... A very happy new year to all fegs. It's been a trying year for many (there had to be one last elbow; a friend of mine lost her house in the Sydney brush fires a few days ago) and I hope that 2002 brings better things and a Robyn tour in the US.
