Lalland Scots is/was spoken in the south of Scotland and is not related to the Scots Gaelic of the Highlands. Scots Gaelic is a completely different language, closely related to Erse (Irish Gaelic) and Manx, and somewhat less closely related to Welsh, Cornish and Breton. Lalland Scots is regarded as a bit more than a dialect of English, but not a true separate language. >...Joelle Marie Clark! >Born 12/24/01, 3:44 PST. congrats! Congratulations! Now it's off to ride the whirlwind for you; magic and wonder, long nights and dirty diapers. One of my three year-olds exclaimed last night that this was "the best Christmas EVER!" Methinks it's an especially happy one in the Clark home as well. ===== For everyone that I had trades outstanding with, your packages shipped on the 24th. ===== Larry, your shipment came yesterday. Same with Kay :-) you are too sweet, but then you already knew that. Hope everything went well this week. ===== I never gloat over Christmas gifts, but I got 'The Rutles' DVD and, for some unexplained reason, a John Cleese-autographed picture of Fawlty Towers. So I'm in heaven. ===== After months of listening, trading, re-listening, convening special panels, tabulating votes, brokering compromises, sending drafts back through committee, and exit polling a survey population of one (myself), I have concluded the following from the SB 2001 tour: Favorite version of Underwater Moonlight: Chicago, 3-30 Favorite version of Astronomy Domine: Norwich, 4-22 There, it feels good to have that wrapped up. ===== And finally, may your particular divine force look kindly upon you this holiday season. My God looks like a cross between Yul Gibbons and Barry Gibb, and I just know he's having a mother of a blowout tonight. But here in Chicago it's quiet; the relatives are all packed off homeward, the cleaning is just about done and the kids are going down to sleep. It even snowed a little today. God bless. Well, that's just it: if you're about to feed them, you shouldn't hold it - - or your fingers will get nipped. Just toss it at them - unless it's elderly, crusty, and hard, in which case you might injure the swans. And then PETA will have your ass. - --Jeffrey with 2 Fs Jeffrey J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society www.uwm.edu/~jenor/ADS.html ::Watson! I finally saw "Memento," tonight. Well, actually, this was my second time, because I was re-watching it to affirm the first viewing from the night before. WOW, that was brilliant. I don't care if it wins Best Film or not, but I'll sure be disappointed if it's not at least *nominated*. The best new film I've seen in quite awhile. The best, since, well...long ago enough that I don't remember! Incidentally, I can't think of any other film which so strongly demands a repeat viewing, to "fill in the gaps." I caught a lot of extra little things, the second time around. Merry after-Christmas sale, and congrats to Tom. (Is that your first?)
