Revenant was largely Dean Blackwood's operation, in terms of day-to-day business--I believe he got a big inheritance and decided to use it to start a label. Fahey was, I suppose, the artistic director. They had several releases in the pipeline (Fahey's earliest recordings, a Derek Bailey/Milford Graves duet), so I'm hopeful regarding Revenant continuing. - -- Charles ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Feb 2001 13:02:11 -0900 From: Brett Cooper Subject: Re: Robyn's worst enemy in the press? on 2/24/01 11:47 AM, Eb at ElBroome@earthlink.net wrote: > http://www.cpcn.com/earshot/earshot.1197/worst.chuck.shtml > > Jeez, and I've exchanged email with him, too. To suggest Alice be on the list? Once again, silly wabbit, I will simply repeat that I do own three Alice Cooper albums. And that one of them (Love It to Death) is fairly good. It's better than 10-12 *other* 1971 releases I own. Certainly, it wipes the floor with Richard Harris' My Boy. High praise, indeed. I'd have a hard time making an all-time worst list, but Alice Cooper certainly wouldn't be on it. It's easy to make "best" lists, because I own the music and the database is at my fingertips. Determining the "worst" would require carefully scanning through all the aisles of a large record store, and taking notes. Or something similarly arduous. I suspect that Billy Idol, the Cult and INXS might make my list, though. And I'd probably cheat, and allot one slot to simply "'80s hair metal." (Needless to say, the latter incorporates plenty of music which AC fans mysteriously brag about their hero *influencing*.) No. It's interesting, how few nominees have been offered. Everyone just keeps citing the Corrs, even though I suggested them in my initial post. (Sheesh.) I figured I was just blanking, but maybe the tally really *is* that small. Seems like there's gotta be a few more candidates in the country and R&B fields, though.
