During one of the fifty or sixty thousand station breaks, the local news person gave some teasers for what would be on the late news and said something like: "...and see how local jews in the Central Coast are celebrating this Passover." Which is not funny at all by itself (of course the word "jews" was six times as loud as the other words in the sentence, so it was still kind of funny.) What was really hilarious was what was in the background. Instead of showing a bunch of jewish persons in Santa Cruz doing their Passover thing, they showed a news backdrop of moses parting the Red Sea in _The Ten Commandments_. Donne and I looked at each other and laughed all the way through the station break. Please forgive my Judaic ignorance, but, well, um, you guys 'n' gals don't go out and part the Red Sea every year, do you? And, geez, hangin' out with ol' Charly (Krautmeyer) Hestin with one of those ape- shootin' bangsticks lodged between his shoulder blades after forceful insertion from a sub-equatorial body location would just about kill me. That all seems like a lot of work to me. I hope that Passover isn't as harrowing as it sounds and that you get all 'rested up' before your flight out here. All the best. Yes. Yes, we do. Actually, since the Red Sea (or any sea) wasn't really available to us in the land-locked Midwest, we would sometimes go out and part the Huron River, which flows through Ann Arbor, and is about five feet deep. Not much of a challenge, that. Once we tried to part the Detroit River, but it was so polluted that it all stuck together. n. Around here, we don't discriminate based on volume of posts...if you dig Robyn, you're a feg. My fiancee considers herself a feg and she just learned how to turn the computer on (no bad jokes, please!). On a different topic, do any of you Mac-leaning fegs know where I can get a NuBus to ADB converter card for my old Mac 7100? I want to get it up and running again and need a good source for old Mac parts. All together now: Umwah umwoh umwah wah! Another for the list is that apt description of Auckland embodied in the Fall's live album "Fall in a hole" Please note, BTW, that sometimes NZ groups (such as the Verlaines) spawn conversations that I don't start! Finally, finally bought a copy of Mule Variations, BTW, and yup, it's a beauty, especially the quieter songs, like "Picture in a frame" Happy celebration of Eostre, pagan fertility goddess, everyone! Not being familiar with the area, I am wondering how easy it would be to get to Carrboro from Chapel Hill without a car...is there any public transportation available and how reliable is it? They look very close on the map but it would be great to get an idea of what to expect. Reply offlist if you can give me some info. Thank you thankyou thankyou!
