Antwoman and Adoration Of The City are particularly crunching. i mean, i surely wouldn't have wanted every show on the tour to sound like this. (though at times it threatened to in other cities. i think part of the problem with the amp -- and listening to some of the early shows of the tour, it's now clear in retrospect that the guitar problems began very early on in the tour, and san francisco was simply the culmination of the phenomenon -- was that they weren't able to turn it *down* very well. robyn even apologised on more than one occasion to those standing in the direct line of his amp. you know, they might've tried just turning the thing around, and letting the house speakers handle the job.) but i think this is one tape i'll return to over and over. anyway... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Dec 1999 14:44:55 PST From: "Anal Oil Leakage" Subject: typos up the cornhole yikes! sorry! thought i'd proofread that. but apparently not very well. here's a transcription, sans typos. incidentally, i know that "my fingers do the siege" line don't make much sense. but i listened to it several times over, and it's the only thing i can come up with. perhaps hal could make a better guess? Oh, the young girls look like salad And the old men look like rain And it's pouring down inside of them And rustin' up their chains And the winters look like summer And the sky is full of holes Through the windows of eternity You can glimpse the passing souls And the party's over And the songs are playin' themselves I'm going home And my boots are filled with water And my head is filled with wine And desire is caressing me 'cause she said that she'd be mine As she dances on the table She's just out of my reach Oh, my fingers pass right through her And my fingers do the siege But the party's over And the songs are singin' themselves And, I'm going home All the young girls look like ravens As they flock around the pool And they peck at their reflections In the shadows, old men drool I have loved you from a distance I have loved you from up close I have loved you less than nobody I have loved you more than most And the party's over And the song is singin' itself The party's over And the song is singin' itself I'm goin' home, yeah I'm goin' home ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Dec 1999 09:09:30 +0000 From: "Stewart C. Just so's you kids know, I'll be in San Francisco all week this week. If anyone has free time in that area, let me know and we can have dinner or something. I will not have a car, so I'm not sure how likely it is I'll be leaving the city proper. Um... in the Too Much Information Department, I'll be staying at the creepy Holiday Inn Union Square. Man, my employer spares no expense. We'll see what happens. Tis the season for taking a break from life and enjoying the holidays somewhere. Some of you might be away from a keyboard for awhile, so I just want to take this opportunity to say happy holidays to all of you!! Hey, and go easy on those christmas cards this year! My employer (USPS) is demanding that I route each and every one of those damn things to its proper destination, so there better not be too many of 'em, or I'll start sending them all to Quail or Gloster's house! Alas, that part isn't included on the incomplete version from the Denver soundcheck. By the way, I finally figured out that Robyn is singing "First come..." and "First served..." at the beginning of each verse of the new song "The Green Boy". Has anyone (eddie?) been able to decipher the rapidly sung chorus part yet? /hal ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Dec 1999 17:05:23 EST From: Briannupp@aol.com Subject: Unsettled Video Hey, I recently remembered taping Robyn and the Egyptians performing "Unsettled" and "I'm only you," about 10 years ago. I recorded it on Beta(mono). I remember it was on some saturday morning kids show. Robyn's wearing a black and white horizonal shirt and the performance is pretty good ( from what I remember). I have yet to find the tape this is recorded on, but I know I have it in a heap in my closet. Has anyone else seen this? I think this would be a good one for the excellent GlassHotel site! I'm the guy who supplied Michael Brage with the copy that's on the second feglist video compilation, which I don't think I ever got a copy of, now that I think of it. (Maybe my sister has it...) Of course, the quality of my copy was pretty bad! Yours might very easily be better. John H. ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V8 #455 *******************************
