'Clowns and Jugglers' is the original title of the song usually known as 'Octopus' ("Please leave us here, close our eyes to the octopus ride", that one). I want to get a list of all the bands no self-respecting Robyn fan would also love. :) Maybe my problem is no self-respect! My knowledge of the Auteurs is limited, so a recommended first album would be welcome. I've heard exactly one of their songs (something about child murders -- popular pop song topic in the UK?) and found it kind of annoying and generic-sounding. This last impression is informed partly by the fact that I'm dating an avid Britpop fan, and after so much Manic Street Preachers (has anyone ever seen this band and U2 in a room together?), Boo Radleys, Marion, Longpigs, etc. they all start to sound alike. I did, however, end up buying the Black Box Recorder album. I'm a little disappointed. The vocalist's voice is a little too dry and bland for my taste. The lyrics aren't bad but the parade of too-knowing children and suburban neurosis-breeding-grounds seemed a little too familiar. The music is insanely catchy but simple. I like the album, but maybe it's not Haines's best side...? I was about to say that they're the only two films this year that I thought were 10 out of 10, but I think I still take points from _South Park_ for the Winona Ryder bullshit. All the other good films I saw this year were imperfect or didn't live up to their promise (unfair, because most of them were more ambitious than these two). Drew ===== Andrew D. Then after Tim and the DL's set was over, the same dip shit bouncer came over to me again and said that I was lucky I hadn't been tossed already. The table behind Brian and Carissa came to my defense, but it still wasn't sinking in to his pea headed sized brain. Finally Robyn came on and some of the guys seated at the loud mouth table were bounced and I never saw what happened to the 2 women at the table that were talking non-stop and loudly durring Tim's set. That was Eddie? Somehow that doesn't surprise me. I think it was the same group that included the drunk guy with the mullet (the hair, not the fish!) who kept staggering around in front of the stage during the first part of the set. > Speaking of lists, have fun tearing apart this spankin'-new, > best-o'-1999 one (especially you, Gnatalie): What a stupid, lame, shitty list.
