This is just the sort of thing that was on my mind when I was reviewing the promo sampler for the station. It occurred to me that we really needed another band like Talking Heads, very very badly. David Byrne, as talented as he is, can't quite pull this off on his own. And I can't think of any other band that's doing it, though in these genre-bending-happy days I know there must be someone. I think it's this exuberance, intelligence, and complexity that's missing. Cornershop came to mind, but mainly because they're on Luaka Bop and Byrne really likes them, and they really only have the exuberance. Not that they're unintelligent and simplistic, but it's not at all the same angle. > From: "JH3" [JH3, on _Soft Bulletin_ kicking ass:] > But do you ever hear ME saying "I told you so"? Hey, I even have the tix to the Storefront screenings. I am not nearly so embarrassed about it now that there is at least one other who can't let go of ephemera. Most are in a lovely lacquer box in storage but some are in my journals with me. Also cut out the free paper notices of his appearences when in town (or many of them) when they were happening so have a nice progression of dark to gray hair newspaper photos tucked in books as well. My scanner and my printer are both not working (something about putting them in a car and driving x-country?) but I can scan these elsewhere.
