What Jason is looking for is "Fuzzy Warbles" - a series of CDs containing every demo that And and Colin can find, except the ones that appeared as Virgin b-sides. They should start coming out after Apple Venus 2, which appears to be on track for release fairly early next year. Andy has most all of his demos, but Colin has thrown away or recorded over a bunch of his. They may be able to find some of Colin's via the tapes that Andy used to be pretty free with. The highlights of the series will be the unreleased demos - three or four albums worth, or maybe more. For example, there are supposed to be around twenty demos that didn't make AV 1 & 2. The recording quality will range from early four track up to what "Homespun" sounds like, but everything will be made to sound as good as possible. - - Steve _______________ We're all Jesus, Buddha, and the Wizard of Oz! - Andy Partridge ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Oct 1999 19:00:45 -0600 From: hal brandt Subject: Re: new promo item Chris! wrote: > > http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=177506196 > > And the bidding is 51.00 dollars! Arguably though, like the Atlantic Ocean, the waves are constantly pushing bands over from the UK to North America. Riding one crest is the Beta Band, Scotland's answer to cut-and-paste artists like Beck. Adroitly evading and actively dissing the music press, The Beta Band has nevertheless built up a loyal following that dotes on the band. Their odd mix of the Beatles circa Yellow Submarine and Pink Floyd is unnerving to say the least - but it's the mish-mash of instruments and sounds that will topple any notion of musical structure that you ever had. The only way to describe it is weird but unequivocally brilliant. Imagine Frank Zappa, Beck, and Robert Wyatt leading the Bonzo Dog Band! Another strong influence appears to be turn-of-the-'70s Pink Floyd, given the band's fondness for near-inaudible tape loops and Mason's astonishingly Roger Waters-like voice. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * or try ... .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... http://www.chapters.ca/Music/Details/default.asp?UPC=017046626828&UID=A4BF15127FA911D3B0840008C79F6C88&WSID=0310A4BF15107FA911D3B0840008C79F6C882211 ....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
