This surprises me because, as far as I could tell, everyone was there just to see Robyn. Perhaps I'd just instinctively identified only Robyn fans to talk to. I was hoping that someone else was taking notes on the setlist. Robyn was in fine solo form... I *loved* the way he did "Only The Stones Remain", and "I Feel Beautiful" was amazing. I wished I could've stayed long enough to see the Lips, but my little brother had to turn into a pumpkin for an early airplane flight, and he got a ride with me... Anyways... during the initial MABD video, with the thundering jet sounds ("The audience is now deaf!") and the first part of E.A.R., Robyn was standing unnoticed on the balcony by/sort atop the right side of the stage. He was in a dull green t-shirt, not the polka-dot black-and-white one that he performed in. He was simply watching and listening to the music. I really didn't want to disturb him, but I wanted to say "hi" somehow. I shouted "Robyn" a couple times, doing this delicate balance between "I want to be heard" and "I don't want everyone to mob Robyn and cause him to run backstage." Finally, he heard me: me: "I really like your music!" rh: "Thank you." and then he went back kinda trying to bop to E.A.R. until it got to an ungroove-able point and then he went backstage to get ready for his set. I ran to my brother and friends and told them I saw Robyn and was geeked for much of the night. :) BTW to woj: a BIG thank you for running the most-excellent fegmaniax- announce list, and culling the best stuff for us subscribers to read. - -- Michael J. However, the list continues to be a big influence on me - as usual I can rely on it for intelligent, thoughtful discussions of important things with many voices being heard (I'm thinking of the smoking, christianity, and Eyes Wide Shut discussions that have sprung up) and excellent music recommendations. Right now I'm really grooving on Michael Penn's Resigned, and I actually picked up a House of Love album completely blind. July 20th came, but no Jewels appeared at my local megastore (A&B Sound, quite benevolent as megastores go).
