Backtracking to save face is generally to be avoided, unless you're facing a lawsuit. But you have to remember that I'm on your side here. I have been all along. After all, both of us agree that there are too many guns in the United States, and that US popular culture in general is a really sick puppy these days, right? And neither of us like Neutral Milk Hotel. It's like two people with the same brain! All I was saying was that it would be more impressive if you, as a "left-wing" guy, were capable of appreciating the brilliant lyrical stylings of someone more *overtly* right-wing, like, say, Ted Nugent for example. I'm certainly no right-winger, but frankly I don't think it's fair that guys like Bob Dylan get heaps of accolades for those pansy-ass lyrics they write while poor Ted gets absolutely NO credit for the poetic innovation of lines like "Wang dang I want my sweet poontang," etc. But that's just my opinion; I could be (and, in fact, am) wrong. Eh, I'll agree that HOMICIDE has slipped from its third-season peak, but all the actors hired since then (including Jon Seda, and especially the now-departed Reed Diamond, whose Kellerman was a real gem) have done fine. Don't believe me on Seda? See the first episode of OZ and see if it doesn't change your mind. I'd lay any blame at the feet of the writers, who haven't found a way to make some of the replacement characters (Seda's Falsone, Michelle Forbes' Dr. Cox, Tall Model Cop Woman this year) into three-dimensional characters. It's still the best drama on TV IMO, even with these faults... Amazed to see all the kudos for LAW AND ORDER. I'll agree that it's a quality show, but it's also so antiseptic and clinical that it ultimately leaves me cold. At the other pole, I can't abide the more soapy qualities of ER and NYPD BLUE. It seems like this problem started around the time OZ would have been starting development (since it's a lot of the same writers). i don't think that's a coincidence. and james yoshimura needs to be writing more often as well. ultimately though, i do think the greatest credit to HOMICIDE's creators is this: they got fairly decent performances out of a Baldwin. > Amazed to see all the kudos for LAW AND ORDER.
