I won't retype the 5 characteristics of this disorder, but I can tell you that my psychotic, sociopath ex-boyfriend from 3 years ago fits this description *perfectly.* It's chilling. It's textbook. I saw him walking down Burnside street the other day and it was like seeing the Devil stroll by. Fittingly, he wore all black. Gah! Ok, I'll stop now. For various reasons, I seem to have acquired "Storefront Hitchcock" - both album and cd...many tapes...cds...cards...and emails. I don't even know how to thank everyone - though I promise I'll figure something out. I wanted to say thanks to the fegs who introduced me to Dan Bern, Rufus Wainwright {n.p. 'april fools'}, and Neutral Milk Hotel -- and of course those who recorded songs for Glass Flesh -- who thus introduced me to their own music as well. Okay, I'm soooooooooo behind in digests that I officially give up. I just read the last digest -- and I'm jumpin' in head first. So -- Ken mentioned something about grits and Tim Keegan, though I don't believe those two are necessarily linked ;} But, I've obviously missed out on something -- does Tim or Homer have an album out? Ken said he was off to listen to the album. I have the 'Superkeen' cd single -- but that is all -- so I'm wondering if there is another album I should be looking for at my neighborhood record store ;} Now -- Robyn stuff. I was thinking it would be a whole lot easier to give "Storefront Hitchcock - The Film" its Canadian premiere at the NXNE festival. So, I am wondering about those of you who have seen the film. I know it played at SXSW, was that the U.S. premiere? I know some of you were at SXSW -- so I'm wondering if you think it was the appropriate way to showcase the film and Robyn. Were there many perks to seeing it at SXSW? I know "SH" played recently in Portland -- within a festival of other music films -- was that "special" in the way I'd assume it was at SXSW. I also am aware of the New York Gala...but I know __*nothing*___ about that. Anyone care to share? fading back into yesterday before tomorrow cones ;} Randi *what scares you most will set you free* - Robyn Hitchcock *the longer you hide...the more you deny* - Neil Finn p.s. - if Corey Grant is on this list -- and I really hope you are -- Mandy is trying to find you -- especially since it's your b-day on the 23rd -- so Corey please please please please email me and I'll give you Mandy's new number. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Jan 1999 12:19:35 GMT From: dwdudic@erols.com (David W. I will be taking el numero dos slot and performing some ditties with fellow glassfleshian, Dave Brown next Friday, 1/22/99. Yes, it is an anniversary of my father's twenty-first birthday, as well. You may remember Dave Brown from such fingerpicked blind guy blues on the song, "Big Spit Blues" on the _Monday's Lunch_ CD, and playing and singing the lead on "One Long Pair of Eyes," from the amazing _Glass Flesh!_ tribute to Robyn Hitchcock. I play some of my own ditties from my CD acoustically, and will probably do some covers too. Dave does a lot of rootsy stuff and acoustic rock. Hopefully he'll even pull out a Billy Bragg tune or even "One Long Pair of Eyes," but that'll be up to him. I'm not entirely sure what Matt does, but I understand it's an acoustic rock thing. Dave assures me that his CD is very good. If some fegs (Robyn Hitchcock fans, for those of you who aren't hip to the lingo) show up and correctly identify themselves, I will play some Robyn Hitchcock tunes for y'all. I will also have _Monday's Lunch_ and _Glass Flesh!_ CD's there to peddle. Bring cash and checks and stuff, because you know you'll want to buy several of everything. I will be spending this week finishing my recovery from the Plutonian Death Flu and practicing guitar and stuff. Oh yea, I'll be working too. It's just that future pressings will have big Interscope logos on the back, and "A&M" will be just sort of a meaningless brand name stuck in the corner (kinda like the Apple logo on Capitol's Beatles/Badfinger reissues). Indeed, Universal's Interscope, into which the two labels will be folded, will cut about 20 bands itself. At Mercury, it was estimated that 110 of a 140-act roster will be dropped, and at least 25 of Island's acts will go." Let's see, looking through my database, who might get dropped that I give a darn about? Ummm.... A&M: Blinker the Star Geffen/DGC: the big question mark...so many damn bands on that label. 10000 Maniacs, the Sundays, Weezer, or dare I say SONIC YOUTH? Or even Elastica, or is it a pointless issue since they'll never release another record anyway? None of the above, hopefully. Interscope: Red Five, Polara, Possum Dixon, Rocket From the Crypt Mercury: Redd Kross, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci (the Boo Radleys are already gone) Island: Gavin Friday (if he's not gone already...Waits and Faithfull are already gone) Hmm.
