Disney has been too busy selling videotapes of their animated films for
calculated short periods of time to shamelessly create "instant hype"

Okay - there have been a few posts lately {that no one else has addressed} 
about there not being enough Robyn content on this list...

There is an option - one could get off the feg-digest and join the 
"fegmaniax announce list," which deals with Robyn content _only_.

We are a diverse group of people *here*, as has been mentioned in the past, 
and sometimes topics other than Robyn Hitchcock crop up...

Sometimes it's difficult to avoide...we all have lives and interests that 
are *not* connected to Robyn H., but we discuss them anyway.

I really really hope those of you that feel there isn't enough RH content 
- - sign on to the "announce list" on woj's site - or delete/don't read

I think having content other than Robyn is what makes the list exciting -

I posted on my first day or two on fegmaniax and lived
to tell about it. Of course, that was back during the
Wilson (Woodrow) administration.

I really like hearing about new fegs and their interests.
If we keep it friendly and don't go on public attack when
somebody else isn't as friendly, we will keep things more
civil. The avoidance of inflammatory statements may save
someone's eyeballs here. If it can't be avoided, off-list
is way better than on-list.

New fegs or old ones, I don't think anybody wants to stop
reading the contributions of fegs who start getting
caught up in protracted knee whacking on-list. RH, R&B,
Punk, Placentas, it all happens here, and this is an

I have been delinquent in writing a FAQ for Fegmaniax,
but I don't think it's a good idea to be specific about
personalities on the FAQ. We might not always be the
same people, and may bias some people into positions of
liking/disliking our contributors over the confused
opinions of the author of such a FAQ. I will get on it
as soon as this giant beast stops trying to peck my
eyes out.

Does anyone really claim otherwise? I wasn't aware that anyone thought of
Big Star as having something other than a sizeable cult following. And I
*do* love the band, I hasten to point out.

Btw, the credits did say who did the cover version, but they scrolled by
too fast for me to read. Did anyone catch it?

Today's LA Times has a front-page article about the operations of the
Dreamworks label. The article discusses the label's philosophy of "quality
over quick results," and pictures the Rufus Wainwright, Elliott Smith and
upcoming Eels albums as examples of this mindset. The article doesn't say a
heckuva lot about Wainwright, however, other than that he has a "musical
vision elegant enough to embrace Noel Coward and Cole Porter." <yawn> Oh,
that Robert Hilburn...always so dependably full of stale air.

Actually, LJ and I have a picture of that same Giant Frozen 
Tastee-Squid(TM) hanging up on the old 'fridge. And guess what's keeping 
it hanging? -- A prawn magnet! I kid you not. As a matter of fact, a 
local vendor *sells* tiny handmade magnets in the shape of delightfully 
skewed little prawns, lobsters, squid and crabs. I got a squid magnet for 
Chris Gross, and ever since I haven't heard from him. Hmmm . . . ? Too 
much "Lolita," Chris? 

So maybe I'll mail some prawn magnetude the way of CA for the Left Coast 
Fegfest. . . . . 

Oooh, on to even *older* subjects --

As for the Feg Webring, well I maintain a pretty comprehensive page of 
links to *every* Feg's homepage at http://www.rpg.net/quail/fegmania. 
Personally, I don't like "webrings," because it sounds too much like a 
disease that mixes fungus with spiders. 

Speaking of fungus and spiders . . . what happened to the Gong list, eh? 
Weeellllll . . . that would be a *long* story, and one I may just have to 
relate, that is if I can pull my head out of this high-glamour fashion 
world for a bit. 

Hey! The Goodyear Blimp is outside my window! And I was just thinking 
about Eb working at Disneyworld/land/empire. Don't they call the cabin a 
"gondola?" Coincidence? 

So here it is, 8:00PM, and I'm still at work, looking out my window here 
in the Empire State Building, and below I see Bryant Park and Fifth 
Avenue. . . heh heh . . . the marshmellows are all in place . . . ahhh, 
Fegs, we finally got one of our own up here. . . . now I just wait for 
Bayard's signal. . . . and of course Eddie's all ready in VivaSeaTac, 
ready with the beans, poppies, and processors . . . . oh, soon. . . .
