Dear lord! Robyn said that? I think we all know darn well that referring to one's self in the third person is a sure sign of mental instability! Sorry to cross threads. This monkey has a tendency to do that. But here is a list of all The Chills stuff I own - in order of course ;} ...*Brave Words* {still my fave 'cause it's the first one I ever bought - I get nostalgic that way - plus imho it's their best album ;} ...*Kaleidoscope World* {a compilation of stuff put out by The Chills before Brave Words} ...cd single - *Heavenly Pop Hit* - has *wave watching,* *whole lot of non,* and *water wolves* on it as well ...*Submarine Bells* - I don't like it as much as Brave Words - sorry fegs ;} ...cd single - The Male Monster From The Id...also has *i wish i could do without you* and *big dark day* and - *soft bomb* I am obviously missing *the best of album,* - only out on Flying Nun - and as far as I know The Chills remixed or rerecorded all the songs off *Brave Words* for it....ggrrrhhh.....aaarrrrgghhh Then Martin Phillips was supposed to have a solo album - James? did he? Then I heard about *Pop Art Toasters* - but couldn't get it anywhere - assuming it also came out on Flying Nun as well - oh resident NZ dude James - what have ye to say ;} All comments from ye knowledgeable fegs, down under, NZ or otherwise...are always appreciated :} Now - I will take *Brave Words* out of the cd player - and in it's place - slip in very gently - very carefully - with stirrings of great excitement in it goes - Mark *sharkboy* Gloster's "Monday's Lunch"... Further personal comments on this event will be sent in full detail to *sharkboy* - and some more titillating comments may reach the list ;} fading back into yesterday, Rand *what scares you most will set you free* - Robyn Hitchcock *I've learnt that I am me and me is not the same as you* - The Chills ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 08 Aug 1998 12:17:22 PDT From: "Capitalism Blows" Subject: big lebowski comes out on video 8/11! you know, i welcome *all* fegmail. all the fegs can make any topic interesting, and it's always a joy to read what you're thinking. bayard asked if anybody actually reads all fegmail. i do (in fact, sometimes i think, "uh, i *used to* read books, now i read fegmail...") and the only things i really even scroll down through are the kinks theses. not that i have anything at all against the kinks, but they're just not quite *that* interesting to me. it's quite the same way with...like, i'm sure that the only one that bothers to read my coen brothers theses is capuch'n. ok, have it your way. <>also, maybe you can answer this, john. i've often wondered why >they bother declassifying at all (actually, clinton has made >noises in this direction. Hmmm. I happen to believe that it's possible to release once-classified stuff with huge numbers of black marks in it and still have it be sort of useful to historians> egad! i've miscommunicated yet again. i meant by that, why do the planners bother declassifying rather than just shredding the stuff straight away? i'm in complete agreement that declassified documents (along with memoirs of the participants and the business press of the era) are essential in piecing together what happened. so long, of course, as you're willing to wait 25-40 years, and read through a bunch of really boring, useless crap. maybe, although the assault on the bill or rights hasn't raised too many eyebrows. at least, not enough. or the war on drugs/prison industrial complex. etc. i'd LOVE to believe this. but every time he gets asked about it, he says that he's old enough to not be required to have a band anymore, and that after about forty, a bunch of guys hanging around together all the whole time is just sad. it doesn't sound like he misses it at all, really. although i did once hear him say that a reunion tour is ok. (in theory. he didn't say that he was planning one.) i read or heard somewhere that he said they were all getting together at some birthday party or something, and that they were going to play together, but not record any of the festivities. kimberley's been playing with him on and off since late last year. we have just GOT to get a web page put up that compiles all our robyn dreams. but *robyn's* the vegetarian. why wasn't *he* the one freaking out? VERY funny dream, by the way, ken! god, i wished we had the technology to videotape dreams. *then* we could get a fucking robyn dreams video tape tree set up! sounds like you ought to be a part of the lyrics committee, young man. mail capuch'n privately, and he'll tell you how to sign up. you'll be receiving your starter kit in the (snail) mail about two weeks after, and then you'll be all set to participate! we got our own uniforms and everything. pretty neat deal. anywho, though we're almost done with all the rekkids proper, there's still all the unreleased stuff to go through with a fine-toothed comb. we should be at it for quite some time to come. well, *i've* never said anything like that! i love abba. and i love the carpenters. so there. Waaal, if you mean the vast-conspiracy planners, they probably do. I'm sure anything really incriminating does get shredded, and of course agencies like CIA & NSA never declassify anything. And now that they all have computers, shredding is easier than ever before! I was just working on State Department stuff - they're not supposed to be in the business of doing dirty tricks; that's what the spooks are for. They just don't want you to know that they were covering for the spooks. Not that they really WERE, of course! (I did promise not to divulge anything specific, you know.) But that's not enough of a reason to lose tons of potentially valuable documents, even if it is only historians that consider them valuable... And believe it or not, many of those documents actually show the US of A in a *good* light. (Depending on your definition of "good"!) You know, most Chills/NZ fans with whom I've communicated were quite disappointed with Sunburnt. It wasn't received nearly as well as past Chills releases. Just fyi. Certainly, it's my own least favorite Chills album. On the other hand, Submarine Bells would rank in my top 10 of this *decade*, and is my very favorite NZ-based release (yes, I like it easily more than anything by Crowded House).
