Probably the best screenplay that came out of Hollywood, aside from "The Sweet Smell of Success", which is hands down the BESTEST. No, not that stupid thing with Michael J. Fox. The brilliant thing with Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis. It's the only screenplay I know of written by Clifford Odets, and I've always meant to get my hands on some of his plays ever since seeing the movie- because that is some of the sharpest dialogue I ever heard coming out of human mouths. Anyone who'd describe someone's private life as "bilious" is my kind of writer ("who said anything about my bilious private life?" hehe :)). Did that make it onto the 100 best? I suspect not. I think it was probably a little too close for comfort for some of the more self-congratulatory types in the industry, being as it holds up a pretty clear mirror to what publicity machines/gossip/what have you actually -do-. As for the horror movie concept: yeah, I can dig what you're saying. It's pretty horrible, and scary. It's as much of a horror movie as say, "Rosemary's Baby", the only difference being that that had some supernatural elements. But I had always read those as red herrings, the real issue being mental illness surrounding some pregnancies. I think "Repulsion" kinda tips you off to the fact that that was Polanski's real interest. But, at some point, the record labels have to at least *try* to sell the music to the consumers. Sure, many people will do any or all of the pirating you described above, but they can do that from a store bought CD or they can do it from one that they (or someone they know) has downloaded from the "Official Geffen Online Store" (or whatever). So, it'll be interesting to see which way the tides turn. Maybe they'll try to invent and standardize some new format for selling music that would, somehow, stop people from pirating music. At this point, however, that seems nearly impossible. The government would have to get reall Big Brother-ish in order to control the pirating of music. Will the pirating music consumer help usher in a new political regime? Well, when big businesses start losing money, the politicians usually start hoppin' around a lot and writing legislation. Can't remember the >title... Deutscher Girls, perhaps? It's on an E'G records compilation I >used to have many moons since. I have the album of which you speak: First Edition. Yes, the song is called "Deutscher Girls," but the producer credited is one Guy Ford. Maybe Eno produced something else Antsy -- I'm not sure. My name is Enilorac, and I work at the Licorice Pizza in the same mall as you. My friend Cleene Steeve and me (his real name is Reg, but he spells it that way cause of Carl Palmer) always see you and we think you are TOTALLY spazzed!!! I remembered your name from your cone and I looked you up on the fegmaniax list. That is a startling picture of you. I don't know much about Robyn Hitchcock's music 'cept for that song "Happy The Golden Prince" but Cleen Steeve and me are going to Robyn's trial by fire next week cause your going to sing background vocals. Do you have a hot wasp for Junior, so he'll stop slathering you with lather? He thinks your like Raymond Chandler from "Gone With The Tomatoes" but I think your WAY stickier than that. Raymond was pretty hopeless, though. That's my favorite movie, 'cause I make my own wax dolls, too. Okay so I'll see you at the FegFest and I hope you don't explode. > >XOXOXO, >Enilorac > > > "Questions are a burden for others.
