James ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Mar 1998 19:46:48 -0600 From: Miles Goosens Subject: bring home some t-bone An amazingly successful trip to Phonoluxe today yielded, among other wonders, a *new* CD issue of T-Bone Burnett's 1980 album TRUTH DECAY. Since I haven't heard anyone else on these lists mention that this gem was available again, thought I'd do the honors. It's got a different cover than my original vinyl copy, but it's otherwise the same album. Oh, and when I went over to CDNow to check on things, I saw that CDs of T-Bone's gorgeous 1986 self-titled album (ostensibly cut as a country album and issued on Dot Records! I even have a Beta videotape somewhere of T-Bone's appearance on TNN's NEW COUNTRY that year) are going for the measly price of $4.49(!!!) a pop. Don't pass either it or TRUTH DECAY up. Here's hoping a CD combining the TRAP DOOR EP and PROOF THROUGH THE NIGHT isn't far behind. later, Miles np: the Dambuilders, AGAINST THE STARS ====================================================================== "If a million people say a stupid thing, it is still a stupid thing." -- Anatole France Miles Goosens outdoorminer@mindspring.com http://www.mindspring.com/~outdoorminer/miles ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Mar 1998 01:25:57 -0600 From: "Maxey L. I recommend Scott McCloud's book "Understanding Comics" before any attempt is made to create one. Too bad Robyn never got around to doing his comic for FANTAGRAPHICS in Seattle. Boy, with the time change, I probably won't be waking up until noon. . . oh, hey, Marcy, don't forget that, before you have to start worryin' about the time change, we still have St. Patty's comin' up on Tuesday! The following green-colored RH albums *should* suffice for protection from the ritualized pinchings that might otherwise be inflicted on that day: "Eye", "Fegmania" (the spine and the track listing. . . on the reissue, anyway), "Globe of Frogs", "I Often Dream of Trains" (a blue-ish green, but it mostly looks green to me), "Moss Elixir" (spine and panel on back where tracklisting is), and "Queen Elvis". Also, isn't "Invisible Hits" mostly green? So, what's up with Robyn that everything is so damn green?! "Black Snake" and "Element" are black and white, and "Perspex" and "Respect" seemed to be a bit of a venture into warmer earth tones, but, other than that, Robyn seems to stick to a lot of greens, dark-blue-greens and some gold letterings (probably just because they look good against the green). Anyway, this is what happens when I've had too many pancakes and am left to free- associating. I'll stop now. - -----Michael K. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Mar 1998 13:52:49 -0700 From: Eb Subject: Re: South by Southwest Music Panels Announced >why this was posted in alt.music.kmfdm, i can not say... and why you were bothering to READ alt.music.kmfdm, i can not say either. ;) Incidentally, if anyone wants a hearty laugh (and a bit of a shudder), check out alt.music.s-mclachlan and read *any* post written by "Denise Sharpe."
