Not sure if I'd call them dead ends - commercially unsuccessful is a much better word... Personally, "Almost Blue" is one of my fav EC albums so... **BTW - anyone know whether JJ's excellent soundtrack to "Mike's Murder" has ever **made it to CD? Why the hell should anyone? I mean if you had anything to say, say it. Don't disguise it in the form of "oh-gee-I-ought-to-post-my-.sig-file-to-that-list" sort of thing. Otherwise, the whole list will ignore you as they ALWAYS do. Geez, talk about signal-to-noise. That stuff makes me sick. In fact, licorice makes me sick, too. Was that a good go? I mean for not being very vitriolic, by any means? I guess it is hard to do when you don't have that bug-of-the-moment. Can I get another foodstuff besides the licorice; see above reason?? I'll share with the list. > if anybody wants me to pick these up for them, send a note to .chris (i > just hired him as my personal assistant, and one of his tasks is to > field and respond to my e-mail. if you just send mail directly to him > from now on, we could cut out the middle-man (me), thereby expediting > the phenomenon considerably) and let him know. Eddie and I have been planning this for some time. And now it is public; true, as well. Mind you, the sticking point for a long time was the issue of compensation. I necessarily thought that there should be some, beyond the free e-mails that I would get (which by the way average out to only 2 per month; and one of those is Hotmail demanding payment for their free service). So, since Mr. Tews' check is in the mail, I suggest all correspondences submit a "handling fee" to cover my costs in processing and assuring quality in each associated action. Mind you, I conform to ISO 9000 standards; although, you may not audit me before I render any services. These fees need not be monetary, but based on how I feel each day and what I deem suitable. I can supply lists on request, but only to serious enquiries. Thank you. .chris P.S. http://www-personal.umich.edu/~kcjones/baby.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Feb 1998 11:27:08 GMT From: stewart@ref.collins.co.uk (Stewart Russell 3295 Analyst_Programmer) Subject: Re: Mac & PC -- monitor brightness (figgy related) > So, my question is: How do my Figgy pages look on your PC monitors? They're booked on March 21& 22nd (Saturday and Sunday), but as of 2 days ago, they still had openings for earlier in the week. Hey! It's only $16 a night, not including tax. And if you're an AYH member, you pay $13. Youth hostels are nice. Where else can you converse with a bleary-eyed Norwegian/Australian/British/German/etc etc over breakfast and coffee? You don't have to be a youth to stay in one either--I've seen 80 year-olds stay in them. They have a toll free number: 1-800-725-2331. No, don't worry, they *don't* have a curfew, so you can stay out all night. Just be quiet going back in. :) Just my two cents. Much thanks to the kindly Zelda Pinwheel Feg for the information. Yeah, I thought of him as soon as I zapped that post off. I hate being absent-minded :). Anyway, I still stick to my original contention. Though you're right, that's some serious competition there. > i'd be hard pressed to determine whether he or >uncle bobby has a higher percentage of sexually tinged lyrics. hell, i can >find something sexual in anything. it's my curse. Well, actually, so can I, and it seems to pretty much be instinctive with me so there's no way to turn it off even if I wanted to, but I consider it a gift. It makes life more interesting :). If I'm not thinking along that line I'm usually thinking about something to do with death or decay or how strange it is to be in a physical body. It's hard to imagine why I identify so deeply with that Hitchcock guy, isn't it? I didn't get it. Funny, though, because the sleeve has that "Don't Pay More Than..." sticker on the cover. That's right where they put the $50.00 sticker for the store, so that made me chuckle.
