Off the top of my head, Robyn does a demo version of "She Was Sinister But She Was Happy" - solo, no violin. Apart from the lack of violin, it's not drastically different from the Moss Elixir version. Details of the CD can be found at the Ptolemaic Terrascope site (http://www.terrascope.org) which also has an interview with Robyn, I think. I don't remember the Talking Heads being on the (double) CD, though there's a whole bunch of other worthies. Highlight being The Green Pajamas, which leads me on to: Any fegs in/near Seattle ? I need someone to do me a BIG favour: Can you tape a radio show for me ? It's on Saturday 10th January, 8pm - 9pm, The Green Pajamas live on KCMU 90.3FM. ("Jan. 10, 8-9pm - "Live Room" - Tune in to Live Broadcast Performance from Jack Straw Productions on KCMU 90.3FM Seattle") I can send something nice from England in exchange - anything legal and not too heavy considered! Happy 1998, Jonathan. PS note to UK fegs: I don't think that the Jack Straw above is any relation to that responsible parent, our current Home Secretary. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Jan 1998 10:55:12 -0500 From: TROYD1@Westat.com (TROYD1) Subject: 1997 As I haven't heard nearly as much as I would have liked this year, I won't pretend that I can rank the year's best. But making lists is too much fun to pass up! Music I really, really liked this year: Yo la Tengo, I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One Blur, Blur Belle and Sebastian, If You're Feeling Sinister You Am I, Hourly Daily Pavement, Brighten the Corners Spiritualized, Ladies and Gentleman, We're Floating in Space Suede, Sci-Fi Lullabies Teenage Fanclub, Songs From Northern Britain Guided by Voices, Mag Earwhig Syrup USA, All Over This Land The Sundays, Static and Silence Pretty Good, but not great: Julian Cope, Interpreter The Verve, Urban Hymns Suede, Coming Up Disappointing (not bad, just not as good as I thought they would be based on recommendations/reviews and/or radio singles) Radiohead, OK Computer (I love Letdown, but find much of it boring, and Thom Yorke's voice have an annoying Bono-like quality to it) Cornershop, Born for the 7th Time (A surprisngly lazy effort) Dandy Warhols, Come Down (great single, but only a few songs are worth listening to, I think) Thanks to everyone on this list. You all have provided much joy to me in 1997, not to mention great music recommendations (keep 'em coming). Happy New Year! Peter/Scott perform "Hate me more" from the movie "Georgia" ( but was not included on the soundtrack from that film ) and Robyn plays an early version of "She was sinister but she was happy". The rest of it? I don't know, it's not the kind of music I play too often.
