OK, kids. Let's talk. As you may or may not know, I've been working for about a year (ok, about three weeks of actual effort) to rebuild a once glorious lyric archive for Robynsongs. I've decided to combine the lyric archive with Bayard's database and make things as Complete as possible. So Bayard and I have been collaborating as much as possible to get this thing done. NOW... we need help. I'd like this set of lyrics to be as accurate as possible. We think it would be best if a team of Fegs were assembled to correct the existing songlists for errors. (While much of former lyric archive was corrected by somewhat official means, I don't have anything like the resources to do that these days, so we're relying on recovered data and transcription.) So here's what we desire. A small panel that is willing to edit, correct, append and revise EXISTING TEXT FILES that contain the lyrics to Robynsongs. I think we've decided to do three or four songs PER DAY. So you must have the time to review these (preferably while listening to the tracks in question) on a daily basis and respond in a fairly timely fashion. Needless to say, the lyric editing panelist would have to own more or less all of the officially released albums by Robyn and The Soft Boys. On the first pass, we'll be sticking to the major release stuff and pick up odds and ends after the larger task is complete. So reply to me personally if you're willing to put in the time (I'm guessing not much more than a few minutes per mailing. You really only have to listen to the track if you disagree with a lyric you read) and I'll sort things out and get things organized. I hope to get a solid response. This will be so great to have down. It's a velvet underground song which Robyn sings during the late set, March 15, 1997 at the Knitting Factory. The lyrics go something like: "I've been set free, I've been bound to the memories of yesterday's crown. I've been set free and I've been bound. And now, I'm set free..." I hope that's enough for someone to ID. "I'm set free" is sang repeatedly and he seems jolly well happy about it. I'd like to congratulate bayard on another fine selection of rarieties. "Beetle train with antlers" is quick becoming a favorite of mine. I hope Robyn finishes it someday. I felt chills hearing Robyn sing John Lennon's "Stealing Glass".
