Antwoman ~3 One more t-shirt quotation Re: First album, Terry's problem, Dolls - LONG! ------------------------------ From: "Eddie Tews" Subject: The Rocket can kiss my ass (Rolling Stone, too) Date: Sat, 28 Jun 1997 14:03:20 PDT The Rocket is supposedly the greatest music magazine in the country. i never said that, but a lot of people have. there's even some guy in north dakota who wants to trade me robyn audio for issues of The Rocket! anyway, they didn't so much as review the backstage show on the 7th (you can rest easy, though: they DID review the World Wrestling Federation's "concert" in the tacoma dome--no shit.) their review of Viva Sea-Tac II, though favorable, took up all of 8 column inches (very narrow columns), with more than half of that given over to specs and the young fresh fellows. yeah, there was even a blurry picture and all, but suffice it to say that the review was much less than satisfying. what's worse, though, is that they didn't run a feature on him, even though he'd been hanging out here and recording new music! all of this is nothing new. they've never really paid any attention to him, despite the fact that grant alden (who wrote the liner notes to the rhino reissue, and whose gallery, the vox populi, was going to carry an exhibition of robyn's paintings) used to friggin' write for them! as for Rolling Stone, i let my sub expire years ago, but i still read it for some unkown reason. their recent feature compiling the 200 albums You All Have To Have, included nothing by robyn. nothing. not that this is so unexpected, but it still burns my bongos. "Otto? Otto Parts? ha ha ha ha ha! here kid, have a beer." riel, my second album was PYROMANIA, and my third was HIGH 'n' DRY. and i still listen to them both. i can't believe there's anything to say on this subject that hasn't been said already, but here goes: i file alphabetically, chronologically by artist, with greatest hits at the front. compilations and soundtracks alphabetically at the end. i use those caselogic 100-cd books, because they're more portable, and take up way less space than jewel boxes. however, as someone mentioned, it's a serious pain in the ass trying to keep them all alphabetized. even worse than if they were on a shelf, because you have to move groups of albums individually. but it sure looks cool when flipping through the book. anton: if you're still with us, your cd's are great. and thanks for packing so much music onto them. 60+ minutes each. ziggy played... does anyone else read the digests from the archives? you should take a look at the numbering system sometime. it's pretty neat. is this your idea, woj, or is it done automatically? --------------------------------------------------------- Get Your *Web-Based* Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Jun 1997 21:57:51 -0500 (CDT) From: John Littlejohn Subject: Re: Rolling Stone/Spice Girls On Sat, 28 Jun 1997, Eddie Tews wrote: > as for Rolling Stone, i let my sub expire years ago, but i still read it > for some unkown reason. I got the latest edition of Rolling Stone. The Spice Girls were on the cover (who've been talked about on the list lately, as well). I saw no less than seven pictures of Mel B. In all of these pictures her mouth was open. Is there some reason for this? Had her tongue ring got infected or something? Had her jaw cramped? After all she had a lot of job interviews to go through. I always get Q magazine. Even though it seems to be going downhill, it's still the best one I've seen - and even hipper than SPIN magazine thinks it is.
