I think I must have been among the first 20 members. The button was kind of weak, but it pre-dates the nearly identical Winkworth design by more than a decade. Later I ordered some very nice Thoth bottons (black on pink and pink on black) at 50 cents apiece and some more postcards. Robyn has seen me wearing my Thoth button a number of times and never once remarked about it. Must look dorkier on me. Anyway, there was also a newsletter--it too was free at first. Then after a couple of years as demand grew a $5.00 membership fee was imposed, for which new members were given some of this stuff and old members were allowed to keep receiving the newsletter. At some point the fan club went from being called "FegMANIAX!" to "Society Of Dark Birds"...eventually I guess it fizzled and I never heard from Trudi again. I carried on a prettty regular correspondance with Trudi (I remember once after Robyn Hitchcock had used the bathroom in her home she discussed putting up a plaque above the toilet) which now that I think about it was sort of like a primitive version of this list. If anyone here is still in touch with her tell her hello for me. (I'm sure she'll say "who?"). russ (that's who) ------------------------------ From: tanter@econs.umass.edu Date: Wed, 11 Jun 1997 14:43:09 -0400 Subject: hotmail.com Has everyone else been receiving an awful of spams from addresses at hotmail.com lately? Could we have a feg who's been giving our addresses to someone else? (I hope not!) We've probably had about 5 spams from there in the last month. thoughts, anyone? What I would like to do is this: *Solicit designs and ideas from folks on the list *Put up a web page with said designs *Have us all peruse the designs and vote on the one we like the best I've already gotten some offers to do the actual shirt printing, but bids are always welcome. I don't mind putting up the cash, but I'm having a hard time coming up with an estimated quantity to produce. 100? 300? 50? I think I heard through The High Priest of Circuit Board Design (aka M. Gloster) that around 300 copies of Glass Flesh have been sold - do we think that many shirts would be? I can handle the web space and stuff, but I need designs! GIF's or JPEG's would do nicely. I'll set up a web page and ftp site for submissions in the next couple of days. Viva Tea Sacks! -tc p.s. Greetings my beloved Fegs, After several weeks of packing, one LONG (36 hours) day of moving, a weekend that clocked up over 500 miles and a Ryder truck filled with "hand me down" home supplies (couches, chairs, TV's), and the still unfinished business of unpacking boxes, I have settled down to post to my favorite list in web-land. >From the comfort of my new home, I simply want to say, "I've missed you!" What a shock it is to find several threads have come and gone that I was not a part of (a shock to me, perhaps a blessing to all of you!). It's like looking at pictures of your great, great grandparents or something- you feel connected to them, but have nothing emotional to hang on their image. Anyway, I'm back for the most part and look forward to basking in your collective Feg glory again. One note on the Feg T-shirt idea floating around: I understand that the iron on concept has much appeal, but I'd like to say that this very week I received in the mail my very own XTC T-shirt from the Chalkhills list. This beauty is 100% cotton, came in a variety of colours (I chose the forest green which is quite fetching) and sizes (including XXL and XXXL!), is VERY professional looking, and all around a bargain at 15 skins. The bloke that did it has done a couple of runs of these and seems to pull it off without much trouble (that is to say, if some industrious listers can pull off Glass Flesh, this should be a cakewalk). The effort was WELL worth it- 'tis a beautiful shirt. I'd be happy to collect info from him on the ins and outs of doing a proper screen printed list shirt if there is enough interest from you lot. I don't wish to take on the task myself at the moment (about a thousand boxes to unpack, remember?), but I'd be happy to gather information. There's even a chap over on the Lloyd Cole list (yes, I'm on too many lists AND I have my computer in the basement!) who's father owns a screen printing business that could possibly offer us a good deal. Again, I'll do some info-leg work if someone wants to take on the actual task. That's all for now. You'll be hearing from me again- SOON!
