I also seem to have a bit of idle time these days. So, I would like to make an offer to dup some of the specialty recordings (Robyn covers, rarities, etc). I know there have been some trees flying around, but I never seem able to get on them. So this is my attempt to jump in and offer something in return. If anyone can supply me sources (have to be on CD right now) I can pop off dups for anyone for the cost of a blank (~ 7 to 10 $US). I'll pay shipping if it isnt too much $$$. I can turn them around pretty quick, as I use this machine as a workstation 8 hours a day. My friend, I'll call him ,....ahh, ..Dan, ok dan. Well Dan went to see REM at the Worcester Centrum here in Massachusetts. 10.000 Maniacs opened for them. Well after the show Dan had to pee and so he ducked down this loading dock and to relieve him self and was peeing against the wall next to this van. So Natalie comes out, sees Dan and says, "Hey! Don't pee on our van." He hadn't been peeing on their van. So Dan looks at her and turns and starts whizzing right on their van. Then Natalie just turned away disgusted. She didn't try to poke him playfully any where or put any scotch tape anywhere, at least not that Dan has told me. :-) So there's my Natalie Merchant story Matt ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 May 1997 00:35:51 -0400 (EDT) From: Bayard Subject: tapes a-comin'... i have received my DAT of the cat's cradle show in carrboro NC (on robyn's birthday). an excellent audience recording. tapes are spinning as we type. i can take on more analog people if need be. just let me know. ------------------------------ From: Fidgetor@aol.com Date: Sat, 3 May 1997 07:26:51 -0400 (EDT) Subject: The 3DN connection Hey all- Someone else tried this, but here's a shorter (though equally tenuous) connection: Three Dog Night-> Danny Hutton Danny Hutton Hitters->Suzanne Vega (both on Pretty in Pink sndtrk) Suzanne Vega covered Chinese Bones w/the Gladly Dead!!! You can go with Mr. Andy Metcalfe himself, an occasional Squeeze member and touring player. The Guambat ps. Saw "Austin Powers" last night--very funny. It's full of Robyn drawings, too and lyrics I can sort of read: Always the bridesmaid Crawling *** stress I'm waiting around in my Silly red dress She married a donkey He's wed to a goat They're not too demanding And neither can vote I'd vote for a husband All covered with shells Whose fingers go through me Like silvery bells But people are messy They groan in their beds It costs you a fortune Pronouncing them dead And what if you live with Someone all your life And suddenly you are Cut off by a knife There's half of you missing When they disappear Your wires are trailing Off into the air Always the bridesmaid Im clutching my flowers They wither like me Through the emptying hours The groom is a pig And he breathes on her hair I don't think I feel any Jealousy there Confetti is dust As I *** on the shelf At least I don't answer For anyone else Robyn H '93 Received: from clairseach.ecto.org (clairseach.ecto.org [199.45.7.10]) by remus.rutgers.edu (8.8.4/8.8.4) with ESMTP id KAA11297 for ; Sun, 4 May 1997 10:46:35 -0400 (EDT) Date: Sun, 4 May 1997 10:44:02 -0400 From: lj lindhurst Subject: Re: Robyn Artwork This is truly an amazing find...I have never heard these records mentioned before. It was in 1988, I believe, roughly issue No#103 or so. In it, he tells a nice little story about his birth and the events leading up to it. At the time, I tried to order a back copy of the issue (I found it in a library in 1992 or so), but it was sold out. I'd like to think this was because of the efforts of the Great Quail with his students, but I think it has more to do with John Lennon being on the cover. Does anyone know if the little story is available anywhere? I didn't find it on Woj's site. It's about half a page long, if memory serves.
